INCLUDE_DATA
This week has been hard work sorting out boxes again, trying to sort out me garage after the weekend. I have moved so many boxes it is unreal. Already sorted the tee shirts what a nightmare. S, M, L, XL, XXL, XXXL. but at least it is all sorted, why because I know what people want. Unlike the marshals this year, so far we have about a dozen volunteers, well today I spent most of it sorting out the parking for the Monday. Well as most of them know I never ask anyone twice and they way I feel a few people will be changing colour and ending up in car park D.
I never take things for granted why should anyone take me for granted. What does it take 2 minutes to go on the thread and say I will marshal this year. Just so the situation is clear if you do not marshal there will not be a problem because you will not be missed.
Never let it by said I have a easy time., 6 days to go to Dartington Crystal and if all the register members turn up then we will have a really good show. We already have people coming from from all over the place, we have nutcases coming from Ramsgate, Wales, Penzance and a few more places but whatever happens the CHSW will benefit.
Lots of visits to the page over the past few days but not much action everyone must be getting a bit bored, can’t blame them I do push every one sometime a feel like a right so and so and we are still on No2 event. Must have to keep telling them the GT has become what it is because we do every thing that we can, then we have to do that little bit more. I am so bloody knackered just hope I have done the important bits, got the performing right bits and they were a lot cheaper than I was first told, must send that of tomorrow. Also have 100 hand outs going out 6 booking forms. One of the prints is so slow it’s a night mare.
Well it was a good meeting this morning plenty of ideas coming through . We are going to try and do what we did at Bristol mini days every one who plays a game and spends a pound gets a token. We if we have a good turn out of register members we will have a good show.
Another mail shot going out tomorrow plus a load of booking forms, must check how many are booked in. Preforming right license should be here in the next few days . Still trying to think if a have forgotten anything.
It’s been a long day but the breakfast was good.
Lejog
It may seem strange collecting names for next years Lejog but I kept hearing people say they wanted to do it next year. It is a good job I did, now I know that we are full, well I think we are full but who knows maybe we are not full maybe it is along time away, too long but then again for me one event runs into another and they never finish before they are started.
DC Program. We no one can say I didn’t ask the forum if anyone wanted to sponsor a page in the program. Mini59 might if not I will sponsor the whole thing and take over the back page and a bit in the middle and maybe the front. I have also been talking to the preforming rights people so we can officially play music on the 27th.
I now have 450 minis parked very close by, it’s a good job they don’t need road Tax. I am going to have to sort out our conservatory because there is so much register stuff in it. The minis are going to be prizes for DC and any other show we go to along with all the other stuff.
Looks like I won’t have any trouble getting crew members again this year thank heavens, still sending out booking form will have to check how many people are booked in, maybe tomorrow.
Hi All
Arrived back Saturday evening about 10-30pm. It was a really good week with a bunch of nutcases.
We did have the odd domestic and a bit of seat swapping but if we didn’t it wouldn’t be Lejog. As yet there are no divorces in the pipe line.
As for getting lost, we did have to go round a few roundabouts more than once and on one occasion we found ourselves in the middle of nowhere, somewhere in Scotland on a farm track no wider than the cars. No problems really until a tractor come the other way. There was a bit of a stand off but mainly because the tractor driver could not believe his eyes as he looked along the line of 16 minis, in the middle of nowhere.
The weather was not to bad but the food made up for it. Full breakfast every morning and a big meal every night no wonder the minis struggled to get up a few of the hills. Most of us are now on an enforced diet and prunes.
Once again our mini Nessie did us proud and never missed a beat. She did everything that was asked of her, mind you she did drink a bit to much oil and most of that was deposited as soot on the Number plate and boot lid.
Somehow I have earned the name grumpy I do not mind because I had to spend a week with Bashful, Doc, Dopey, Happy, Sleepy, Sneezy and a sleeping beauty who hated getting out of bed.
Since we started this event 11 years ago we have taken well over a 150 minis between Lands End & John O’Groats and covered thousands of miles and every mini that started at Lands End finished at John O’Groats.
This year was a bit different, for the first time ever we had a mini that did not make it to John O’Groats. It got within 20 miles of the finish and gave up and as it was one of the New MINIS (yes one of the new ones) no one was brave enough to pull the bonnet, give the wheel a kick and fiddle with a few wires, so we had to leave it there. The rest of the minis made it there and back with only a few minor problems and maybe a bit of smoke.
Welcome to Bear Force One! We’ve been busy and got ourselves a new site.
