Farm yard wreckWe soon learnt with the Grand Tour that if we wanted to get it to grow we would have to attract Mini owners from outside North Devon. So we started a campaign of terror, taking club stands to Mini shows, the likes of which had never been seen before.

Our first victims were London and Surrey, Brighton our first club stand. We drove a Mini to Brighton and then turned it into a farmyard wreck. We also took along Bill & Ben with little weed who rose out of the car sunroof. So there among the gleaming examples of a great British Heritage lined up along Madeira drive stood our wreck. The rest of our Mini's on the club stand didn’t look that much better, then again we have never been a very proud club. Linda collecting the Trophy from John Cooper

We have always said it is not the Mini that makes a club but the Mini owner. To our surprise we won best club stand and that’s a picture of Linda collecting the Trophy from John Cooper.

Another ShowWe also took Bill & Ben to a lot of other show including the first Mini in the park but we did not win anymore prizes and the sunroof has leaked ever since.

The 3rd Grand Tour did not see a great increase in the number of Mini's taking part but it did help us raise enough money to buy an incubator for the Special Care baby unit at our local Hospital.

Bill & Ben handing over the chequeTo think it took us 3 years to raise £1750. Opposite is a picture of Bill & Ben handing over the cheque. During that time we also gave £170 to the British Heart foundation.

Flintstone car

One of our most impressive club stands was the Flintstone car and the Bedrock Mini centre, it even had its own Stonehenge. It took us months to build but it was worth it. For the first time that year we took out over a 100 Mini's on the Grand Tour. It also helped us publicise our first Land's End to John O’Groats.

That year the Flintstone car covered more miles than most Mini's, it also took part in a great many carnivals around North Devon.

Rickshaw...and HippiesDuring 2000 we built a Rickshaw for a local carnival, the car was beyond repair. We even supplied the hippies to pull it. When we went to Silverstone for the 40th we removed the front handle and attached a push bike. The following day we got in the Daily Mirror.
