Motorbike Marshals wantedThe North Devon Legendary Grand Tour is more than just a Mini or Motorbike event. It’s a community event and will involve over 300 minis, lots & lots of Motorbikes. 3 Lord Mayors, some incredible scenery, lots of fantastic car parks, a Pipe Band, an Ambulance, a Town Crier and a visit to a very special place Little Bridge House. Don’t think we sneak in and out of LBH very quietly. When we arrive all the horns are blasting out and there waiting for us are some very special children, with their brothers & sister, mums & dads and their carers, so many people waving and cheering. You will see LBH like few people ever get to see it and the feel will stay with you for a long time. But we need helpHelp to stand and control the flow of traffic as the minis pass through and to warn the other road users the event is in progress. Your be amazed just how many drivers stop to watch the event. If you have a pillion on with you they could carry a bucket and help to collect donations from the thousands of people stand on the side of the road waiting for the minis to go by. Last year the Marshals collected over £3000. The minis do stop so the marshals can get to the front again. We Should not stop the trafficBUT WE CAN ASK IF IT IS ALRIGHT IF THE MINIS GO THROUGH. Once you have explained to the drivers what it is all about you will be amazed just how many of them stop to enjoy the event. Sometimes if the minis get broken up you might even have to ask the driver to move on. Last year the Grand Tour raised over £25,000 during the weekend including what the motorbike marshals collected and it was given straight to the CHSW. A few weeks later that total had risen to £29,000. We now have motorbike marshals coming from all over the South West and as far away as Milton Keynes and Newcastle-Upon-Tyne who won the trophy for furthest travelled marshal. We also award a trophy to the mini owners favourite bike. Complaints The biggest complaint we get from members of the public is "Why didn't anyone collect my money" This year we are going to try our hardest to collect as much money as we can from the people watching us go by but we will need help and more motorbike marshals. |
