A mini day out for the whole family!

The Dartington Crystal Mini Show in Aid of the Children’s Hospice South West Precious Lives appeal is on this Sunday July 25th.

Now in its 3rd year and attracting more and more minis both new & classic the day offers fun for mini enthusiasts and families who are looking for a fun day out alike.

Unlike most shows the judging of the minis is done by the mini owners who get voting slips when they arrive. There are the normal classes plus a chance for the Children to pick their favourite Mini. There is also an "I don’t think this mini will win any prizes today" prize!

Here Terry Baker, event organiser and long-term supporter of Children’s Hospice South West tells us more:

“Although the show is a fun show there is strong competition among the Mini Owners to win one of the fantastic Ice-Berg trophies donated by Dartington Crystal! It’s a great day for the whole family, whist the Mini Owners are picking the winners, children will be kept amused with a line up of games where everyone is a winner. There is also face painting and a Mini Owners fun dog show plus lots of other things going on.”

“Because of the generosity of Dartington Crystal and the North Devon Mini Register we can say that every penny raised on the day will be going to the Children’s Hospice South West”

The North Devon Mini Register has supported Children’s Hospice South West for over 15 years, raising thousands of pounds in the process. Emma Puckey, Head of Fundraising at Little Bridge House said:

“To say that we are proud to have the support of these intrepid little cars and their dedicated owners would not even come close to expressing our gratitude. Terry & Linda – indeed, the whole crew of the North Devon Mini Register - have become such an important part of our family. They may be small cars, but their hearts are massive. We hope this static mini show will prove popular with local families and wish all the mini owners good luck in the judging!”

The show is on hard standing but there is a grass area if anyone wants to bring a picnic.

The show is not restricted to Mini Owners and members of the public are more than welcome to come along and bring the children and join in the fun and see the Minis.

Entrance to the show for the Mini Owners is £3-00 for a car and driver or £5-00 if there is more than just the driver inside.

Entrance to the show for the public is a small donation to the CHSW.

The show starts at 10-30am and finishes at 3-00pm.

Just have to say Thank You to all those Mini Owners how braved the weather yesterday and come along to the show. I hope you enjoyed it and no one got to sun brunt.

Some how between us all, we raised £555, very soggy pounds.

So thank you everyone, including the staff at the Dartington Crystal restaurant who raised £27 on our behalf I also have to say thank you to the nutcases standing uder the leaking gazebos doing the games.

Children’s choice

Don't for get every mini that turns up is automatically included in the show & shine and everyone who turns up is a judge, that means you, if you turn up.

I hope you do not mind but this year we are going to charge everyone over 17, £3-00 to get in but as we have said before every penny we raise on the day will go to the messy play appeal.

All our events are family events hence the children’s choice, we will have a prize for one of the children who take part in the Children’s choice voting.

New for this year is ROCKER COVER RACING organised by the Silly Mini crew and there will be a cup for the winner. So bring your racer along or get making it.

Our games are a test of skill, agility & nerve and may be to tough and exciting for some of you so we have restricted those to the under six and over sixty but every one is a winner.

Auto Jumble

You can bring as much auto jumble as you like in your mini and we will not charge you anymore the sell it. If you bring it in a van then we will charge you £5-00. If you would like to set up a trade stand we will charge you £10-00

Sorry this has taken a while.  Here's a few words from the company...

Dartington Crystal are delighted to be part of the Small Cars Big Hearts mini rally.

Dartington was set up to help and support the local community in the area and today we continue to champion local businesses and support local charities when ever we can.  It is a privilege to be involved in the wonderful work done for the Children’s Hospice by Small Cars Big Hearts and we sincerely hope that the day is enjoyed by all.

The site here at Torrington has a lot to offer, something for everyone to enjoy we hope!

In aid of the Messy Play Room 3 appeal for the new Children’s Hospice being built in Cornwall.

With the loss of Atlantic Village due to building work we were looking forward to a quiet July but we have been made an offer that we cannot refuse.

As well as their car park, which has a nice grass area if you want to bring a picnic, they are going to donate 10 fantastic glass iceberg trophies engraved with the event for the winners of the show and shine.

There is a restaurant on site and they will be doing cream teas at a special price for the mini owners. There is also a big conservatory on the side that we can use if the weather turns wet for the prize giving.  

The event will start (not too early) say 10-00, and like Atlantic Village just turn up and park. No club stands as such.  Every mini that turns up automatically gets entered in the show & shine and every mini owner attending gets a booklet of voting slips and becomes a judge. There will be a prize for “This mini will not win anything today”, so everyone gets a chance to win one of the fantastic trophies. We hope to do the prize giving about 3-00pm, so it won’t be a long day.

We will charge you £3-00 to get in and we will try to take another couple of pounds off you somehow but every penny we get on the day will go straight to CHSW and our messy play room appeal.

As you can see, it is an offer that we could not refuse and I hope we will see you there.
