I have been speaking to the North Devon Journal and they are going to put even more pressure on NDDC tomorrow when the paper comes out. We are getting so much support and from some important people. You would think that after 10 years this event would start to get easier but it doesn't, it just keeps getting better and more harder to give up the fight to keep it going as it is.
Just to let you all know because of the amount we raised on the Grand Tour our events have now raised over £110,000 since we started 11 years ago. Thank You

Just been doing the new posters for Barnstaple carnival. Tony Bear and his inner cabinet of 4 CHSW bears on the campaign trail. The posters really look good in colour.

Do you think they may be wishing that they never said anything about the parking at IIfracombe. I think we have given them alittle bit more than £230 worth of bad publicity. We have got some new banners made up, only this time they have Tony Bear at the top and they are in colour. Looking forward to Barnstaple carnival.

The bear is totally in charge at the moment and we are on the wagon have been for a few months. Tony reconds we have to keep a clear head. We made it into the centre page of the N.D Journal again this week, seems Tony has been talking to the press again. (p3_elephant)

Today I had a one to one meeting with Steve Wells head of commercial services for North Devon District Council and well it was nice to speak face to face. His remit, sort it out IIfracombe parking and we may of done just that. But I am waiting for a phone call from him before we go public.
It is a very small world he had first hand exprience of the Grand Tour last year when he got held up comeing out of westward Ho! and he loved it he also loved the shorties which stuck in his mind.
He also just happened to mention that he loved flying at the weekends and it was his hobby, well that was it I mentioned that we had a strang chap in our club who runs the Hunter Hawker flying club and he got me up in the air in a 1936 beech well he was friends with the person who owns the 1936 Beech. I mentioned that we have been given four tickets to auction for a ride in the beech and that I can not see any problems with us going back to IIfracombe nor could he. It is a small world.

As from today we are going back to IIfracombe and no change to the parking. We have also been offered the use of a massive parking area along side the harbor, not the main harbor car park but the carpark along the otherside. But as much as it is alot more interesting what about the prizegiving and what about counting the money. It would now seem NDDC can not do enough for us.

Sounds like you have got NDDC right where you want them now Tel!!!

Is there no where in the new area that a gazebo could be put up for money laundering,  I mean counting? Or is it a matter of security to the people counting?

What ever, we have faith in you and Tony Bear to get it sorted.

for residents of soggy torquay this is what the article says!

MINIS WILL BE BACK IN TOWN
Minis will be parading in Ilfracombe again next year after councillors agreed to allow Grand Tour cars to park in the town.
As one of the best loved charity fund raisers in north devon, the Grand Tour ,which raised around £25,000 this summer, was in jeopardy when NDDC raised concern over safety in Ilfracombe.
This year the tour cars parked by the Landmark but the council initially wanted them to relocate to Brimlands on the edge of town.
When the councils car park manager raised the safety concerns about the volume of cars however, supporters of the event launched a petition to ensure the tour remained in the centre of town.
Now both sides have reached an agreement and the tour, which is on for 3 days in August, will run fron Bid to Ilf with stops in W Ho!,Torrington,Little bridge house and, next year,a day at Killarney Springs,Kilkhampton
Tour organiser Terry Baker, said "The minis will be back in ilfracombe. I don't think the council realised just what the Minis were all about but with the public behind us we knew we would be ok"
Instead of Brimlands the Minis have been permission to park in the Landmark car park,as they did this year,as well as on an additional grass area by the theatre. Another option available to them is to use Cove car park on the south side of the harbour.
The tour will be taking up the first option and terry said "We always wanted to stay where we were. The other car parks are nice but do not have the same facilities and there would be a problem of where we count the money collected"
This year organisers were able to use a room in the theatre to count the thousands of pounds collected from well wishers in the town.
Steve Wells, the council's head of recycling and commercial services said: "This is a really lovely event that raises lots of money for charity and is extremely popular with local people and visitors .we wish Terry and his colleagues allthe very best for future events"
Terry added "We want to thank everyone who backed us especially the people of Ilfacombe, the town council and mayor".
