They were working on it until 1am this morning and again today but unfortunately can't get it running. We've always had problems with the immobiliser and it looks as if they have come back to haunt us.

Even if a miracle happened now L2B isn't going to be possible as the car is still SORNed, and isn't taxed or tested.

We're now aiming for Beaulieu. We won't take a new MINI to Brighton but have found an alternative set of wheels so we'll still see you there.

They have now got round the hassles with the the immobilisor that couldn't be remobilised so Krakatoa is finished!

But.............. they can't get him running - now it's problems with the injection system.

Won't run = No MOT = No tax disc = Car still SORNed so it's no Bristol Show for Krakatoa on Sunday.

It's fingers crossed for Beaulieu next week then.

We finally got Krakatoa home on Friday evening. There are still a few things to do so we'll probably let them have him back while we're on LEJOG.

Neither of us had ever driven a Mini with a manual gearbox before so that has been quite an adventure. Compared with the other other cars we drive you have to really rev it to get it moving and I had no idea how to get it into reverse. That caused a bit of fun when I got home and nearly overshot our garage as the car doesn't turn so tightly as in the old days and I needed to go backwards.

When Rita collected her prize at Beaulieu today she was asked to drive into the arena and refused to drive as far forward as they wanted her too. She told Mike Cooper that she doesn't do reverse gear - hope she remembers that on LEJOG......

I really can't believe what we have gone and done - Rita used to say that she wouldn't want a Mini with bonnet stripes, big arches and spotlamps!

Thanks. We are very definitely pleased to have him back.

The air horns are gone - we sold them in aid of CHSW - and at the moment the only horn is a very weedy standard Mini horn.

When we first had the musical horns hardly anybody had them but over the years they have caught on and nearly everybody seems to have them so they aren't really different any more.

The truck horn isn't on the car yet - if it does go back on it'll be somewhere discreet but I have a feeling that it will get sold too.

Tea urn - at least if the car's LHD you can see the kerb more easily so you shouldn't scrape the wheels.

i have to disagree! there wasn't ANY mini quite as loud as yours. i still remember marshalling the GT the other year, and still being deaf 10 minutes after Rita had passed!! it was FANTASTIC!
