I believe this is the black BMW mini you gave me a ride in down to Bideford. Are you still coming dowwn here for a week to help Terry get his workshop up and running? By the way you will never guess what we have just bought. We never thought that we would find anything like this down in Devon. I thought of the name Rose, Terry came back with Petal so we have now agreed on Rosie. When you come down to stay you will see her. Can I drive your new Mini?
We will let you all know on Saturday after we have picked her up, but rest assured that if Terry pays more than £250 for a Mini then it has to be something very special.
Rita says that any of you are welcome to drive hers - she'll do you a special rate of £20ph.
That would be with Bumble (yellow and black diesel) as Sparky (the electric blue Cooper) has hung up his L plates. The two of them are fighting over the spare space in the garage next to LazyBones.
I'm not fussy, I'll drive any of them. However I did say to Terry if I ever owned a new BMW it would have to be yellow with a black roof. Bazzer, where are you working? You know you don't have to wait for an invite to come down and stay, you just have to let us know when you are free.

i was a bit befuzzled myself! I have actually driven a new mini, my friend's got one, and i quite liked it. but then i just love driving and will pretty much drive anything...

We used to have one ourselves, infact we had our classic mini and the BMW on the drive at the same time bumper to bumper. I quite enjoyed driving it apart from the whining from the power steering - that used to get on my nerves after a while. I also didn't like going shopping with it either as I could fit more in the boot of the classic than the BMW !
I love my new Mini and my classic. It is a bit naff on the space unless you sit in the back and dont have a near 6 foot driver like me!!! We successfully took 3 adults and a weeks worth of luggage on holiday to Cornwall last year with no problems. Fold one seat flat and off you go. As there are only 2 of us we manage the monthly food shop by flattening both rear seats as they go flat there is loads of space then.
I must say though, I dont know how practical they are for a family, baby seat that sort of thing, but as a couples car, its fab!!! I quite like the whining noise........

Quite a bit seems to have happened in the 2 days since I signed on, so here goes:
1) Nikki - I'm ashamed to admit that in the 2 months that Rita's had Bumble the only photos I have taken are under the bonnet for her "show me, tell me" examples. The one that shows you the most is:
2) Yellow hospice bear does have a permanent place in the car.
3) Rita says they are bigger!
3) Someone with a new Mini gave Rita £20ph today to drive her round in their car, so it gets even better.
4) GraciesMum - assume you are talking about the power steering whine and not the supercharger. It's quieter on cars built from July '04 but is non-existent on diesels as they have hydraulic assistance instead of a whining electric motor. There is a lot more engine noise on the diesels though - I haven't plucked up courage to tell Rita that when she came down the road the other day I thought it was a delivery van......
5) We love our new Minis but when we get RealMini back from its rebuild we'll love that too and Sparky will get kicked out of the garage. Probably not in time for Brooklands, but definitely in time for L2B.
I think there is a lot of plastic on top of that engine. Does that help with the sound proofing or what or is it just to make it look good. May be BMW have put a 2 cylinder lawn mower engine under it all. That is just a joke be who knows.
BEAR FORCE ONEÂ Â Â Â Terry is a muppet on the end of the arm of Tony Bear I LOOK, I LISTEN, I LEARN AND TAKE A STEP CLOSER TO THE FUNNY FARM EVERYDAY Bear force One. Working thrice as hard, for thrice as many children, getting to the funny farm three times as quickly Not long to go now then. BMW buy the diesel engines off Toyota (as they originated in the Yaris) so maybe they've pulled a fast one. Rita says it sounds like a lawn mower but she's not complaining too much as it has halved the amount she spends on fuel.
There's no room for the battery under the bonnet in the diesel so it's under the boot floor, just like a real Mini.
Grace's dad likes New Mini drives as they keep kerbing the wheels and he has to refurbish them. Obviously not as easy to park as the original or they have had very bad driving instructors.

Grace's dad won't like me then as my wheels have just one tiny nick in them after nearly 3½ years of use. I guess I just love my car too much to kerb the wheels.
I'm sure that there are some bad instructors about and things do go wrong on lessons, but Rita gets pretty fed up when her wheels get scuffed.
Anyway a slightly better photo for Nikki, and I've resized the one I posted earlier as I know that if I was on 56k I'd be pretty fed up with people posting 200kB photos.
The stripes of the graphics are interesting as they look black during the day but are white reflective when you shine a light on them at night.
got a new car for the weekend, a merc clk230 compressor. well not strictly mine as its the boss' car but it neds a new wheelbearing fitting but been drinking so havent got round to it!

technically it was a test drive as my boss knows nothing about cars so he gave it to me to sort it out but i cant hear the wheelbearing noise over the stereo, exhaust noise and supercharger noise.
i might be driving a bmw m3 next weekend to see whats wrong with that lol
