Oil leaks are a goos sign, only panic when it's not leaking, it means there's no oil left

As has been said, slight leaks are the norm. If it's high on the block, I'd check the rocker cover first - that silly piece of cork has a habit of moving around and losing its seal. I'm 200 miles away, and rather an amateur myself, so I'm not much help.
I know you say you'd rather fix it yourself, and I understand that, but in case you aren't aware, the guy who runs this site, Terry, is a very good mechanic - he should be, he owns a Mini Garage in Bedeford.
All the best,

Richard.

It's in the Atlantic Village part of Bideford - if you need an expert, just start a post asking Terry for some help, and he'll contact you, I'm sure.

I do but I am no longer a garage as such yet I do earn my money from looking after minis. Strange that you live in Bideford and you do not know me as I have been running a mini business in Bideford for 20 years. i am so good with minis and I know them inside out as a few people might tell you on the other hand a few people might tell you I am a A*s*.

So let me see you brought a mini last week which has had a 1275 engine in and you are having a few problems with the wiring from what you say it may be a right mess and a lot of man made problems. Now you are having a few oil leaks another night mare. I would say most of your problems are man made and they are the worse type but if you want to bring it around I will have a look at it for you . I make no promises but I will have a look.

thanks for the reply,

i have been looking for a slightly unusual mini for a while, which i belive i know have but it has a few problems as you've read.

ideally i want to build on what has already been done! and improve it too a very nice tidy modified mini.

ive have sent you a PM just to find out exactly where abouts you are and when you want me to pop up.

Some of us have brought our mini to Terry from as far away as Kent and once he came from Kent to Devon on the back of an AA truck - either we are completely mad or Terry is very good - think really its a combination of both
