Just thinking maybe we should start the marshals board up again so we can sort out any of the problems we had last year. Anyone interested.
BEAR FORCE ONE Terry is a muppet on the end of the arm of Tony Bear I LOOK, I LISTEN, I LEARN AND TAKE A STEP CLOSER TO THE FUNNY FARM EVERYDAY Bear force One. Working thrice as hard, for thrice as many children, getting to the funny farm three times as quickly Not long to go now then.
We will have to wait for party Rings to open the board again and change all your colours.

Is that why some of our names have changed colour?
yes, and you should now be able to see an extra board at the bottom - Private Boards - Marshalls

Yes, you're now blue. It means we can claim for second houses, private mileage, extra dog food for Domino, lots of flat screen TV's etc but most important, we can make sure CHSW get a load of dosh from well marshalled people at this year's LGT.

Ha Ha ! Some of their reasons for claiming have been hilarious.
I saw on TV a little village shop had a sign up "ONLY 2 MPS ALLOWED IN AT THE SAME TIME"

Me too please - having experienced the LGT from a purely participatory point of view, and having had lots of people say "why aren't you marshalling", I thought I'd best, er, be a marshall. If that's OK?
Terry Can yu put down Ian and Rachel for being Marshals, hope they have to get up even earlier than us
Party rings will do that but they must be logged on for her to do that.

Logged on I have to speak to them when I get back from Stansted later, I think Ian has been on, but not sure about Rachel, if they are Marshals does someone have to drive them about, if so best put me down as well plus wake them up so they get there on time, at least Julie will get a few hour more in bed
There will be the four of us again, Lisa's looking forward to harassing, sorry that should be gently persuading, people to part with their cash in the Park
I think Chris is a traitor, I love Gem but I think LEJOG should be a classic only event, especially this year but then we are all entitled to our opinions aren't we

When we did Mizen to Malin in Ireland that was historically a classic mini reliability run and we took ours. We were away in total for 6 weeks and included the IMM in Perth (Scotland!)
It is now balanced between the two types.
We do not enjoy ourselves so much in a MINI, especially LGT but at least when I get out I can walk.
On the subject of reliability, has a classic mini never made it to John O'Groats?

Every classic mini that has started with us has finished the whole trip but it hasn't always been easy. One year the second car broke down on the pathway out of our first campsite. No one could get in or out but a quick service soon sorted it out. We where over an hour late and we hadn't even got to the main road.

Won't take long to sort any problems out. Not with the amount of planning you put into it in advance
I always say last years LGT was just a practice for this year and the same goes for Lejog maybe one year we will get them both right.

I would prefer to have a classic mini, and to do both LeJog and LGT in it. (a nice 13inch sports pack, with a 1295 stage 2 lump, in either red or dark blue)
However... I was having a serious amount of reliability issues with "Stickers" and at the time I was driving 40 to work (and 40 miles back again) each day.
I now have a new job and am expected to do around 15,000 miles each year (it 90 miles to the office!). Unfortunatly I need a car that will start in the morning, doesn't give me a bad back, and is likly to pass the MOT each year.
I take on board what OB says, and I agree. Hopefully I will one day be able to have both so I can use the classic for the events, but at the moment that is just not possible.
I'm sure with unlimited funds and time in the garage I could have got "Stickers" to be a realiable and as pleasant to drive as some of the other minis we all own, but again this was not possible.
Rather than getting a Fiesta, Astra, or some other non-mini related car, I choose a BINI. Hoping that I would still be accepted into the great club that we have here. I appreaceate that some people will never like the new car, and that's there problem not mine. Unfortinatly sometimes cercumstances mean that we can't allways do or have what we want.
I didn't want to rant, and Terry/Michelle if you feel this is is too much please feel free to remove it,
Terry's right even that "flipping" automatic the first year I did LEJOG managed to get to the end, and in all my classic's i've never had any serious problem. The hill that Jay (it was Jay wasn't it) broke down on has been giving me serious nightmares. I would be seriously gutted if with the BINI it was the first year that I didn't make it all the way.
Oh and it a silver One D. 53 plate. and it now sports some lovely flower power stickers.
Did't quite get all that, could you repeat it please.

Bumble is a MINI one diesel too. I only get 36 miles a gallon teaching but on a long run you'll get really good consumption. I don't get a bad back in my classic but I have osteo arthritis in both knees which is not helped by being overweight! I fall out of my classic because of my knees and I always hope my neighbours don't see me getting out.
I physically could not do a Lejog in Krakatoa which is why we took new MINI.

The way I have been feeling I might be looking for a new mini soon. After 20 years of working on the old ones I find it hard to move sometimes. After 3 hours in tinker or nessie I find it hard to get out of them. Sometime the only good bloomin' thing about a mini is that it is so close to the ground you can roll out without doing any more harm.

well it wouldn't be would it? the original was a design classic - although admittedly not as effective when viewed in sunlight with sunglasses on....

On the matter of what type of mini one does the events in, as someone who has three min's I have no problem with the new MINI, and would be happy to own one, as working on them to fix them every week does become annoying, at the end of the day the event raises money for a very good cause, who cares what type of mini you complete it in, yes classic minis are great fun, but they are a pain to fix
