How they can still call it Mini In The Park when it's at a race track I don't know. When it was at Cornbury we used to go and Krakatoa has a very impressive crystal for winning Best In Show.
Dogs not allowed now so that rules us out and I expect Andrew will be working from home as he can access his John Lewis PC!
At least now I can use my PC now it's out the box.

Yep Rita we'll be going along, haven't been for a few years, we also used to like it at Cornbury wish they would go back there, in fact we haven't been since they changed the venue

I got a Facebook invitation from Craig at MiniMag. I responded:-
"In the words of Dennis Waterman: 'Right people, Right time, Just the wrong location.'
Craig, Take it back to Cornbury and I'll be there like a shot - but at the present location, 'No thanks'
Didn't get a reply, but there's a group on Facebook called "Bring MITP back to Cornbury Park" - so we aren't alone in our view on the matter. I never missed an MITP until it changed location, but I'll never go back to the current venue again. It's VILE.

I did the same last year... I'm still going through my facebook notifications after nearly 2 weeks away so I'll probably do the same again, however...
MiniMag no longer run MITP - last year an events company ran it for them, and this year they've sold the rights to the same company so unless the events company decide to move it, it'll be staying as Minis In Santa Pod...
only time i did mini in the park was when it was at cornbury. took bazzer's old hornet automatic up there for the mini push. all i remember was drinking a lot on saturday night and an introduction to the funnel. i think it was the year rita got the trophy for krakatoa, and the bloke next to her got a lawnmower out to cut the grass, and then laid tiles down before putting his mini on there

It's a shame, because it was a good show when MiniMag ran it at Cornbury. Probably my favourite, until I discovered the thing at the end of the month! And I was surprised to get an invite from someone at MiniMag this year, because, as has been said, they don't run it any more.
We loved MITP and were at the very first one but we will never go to the new venue.

i like santa pod, but mini in the park just doesnt work there. plus theres another mini show at another dragstrip earlier in the year, at avon park raceway.

We go only to sell our auto jumble. I haven't taken a mini to MITP since cornbury park and don't feel like the pod is a proper mini show. We don't even bother camping and stay in a travel lodge!
Mini in the Park was our first Mini Show we went to and thought it was excellant with a lovely setting its a pity it has moved and we wont be going to Santa Pod
sometimes my mind not only wanders it goes off on its own
I did Cornbury the first few years and it was a great venue, the campsite was rubbish though. But as the years went by it became more about the traders and not the minis, the display and clubs got pushed further and further down the field. The first year at Pod was dire because of the weather, it looked like it had potential but the extra mud tyre on the cars put us off. We are going this year, apparently the clubs are on tarmac now so at least we dont risk bogging like Gary from SMOC did.
So I reserve judgement until I've tried the pod again.

Report on MITPod. We actually had a very pleasant time. We arrived at stupid oclock to be there for a stand and were taken to our pitch by a marshall on a moped, so that one brownie point. Our pitch was right next to the track and in the thick of the trade stands, 2 points. The toilet facilities were fine, clean and flushing(improvement on SMODs loos this year) there was good selection of eating and drinking places, good selection of traders and not all just mini or motoring stuff either. The other bigger club stands had lots of room just behind the traders so everything was quite close together.
There was stuff to see all day from the run what you brung(!), to a big bloke balancing a mini on his head, stunt driver with an array of motors leaving rubber all over the place, helicopter rides and the infamous jet car which managed over 250mph down the strip. The camping was on site, looked a good size and space with an evening bar and disco plus some fair rides.
The atmosphere was quite chilled and relaxed and the good thing was that the sun shone. We had a good day and would probably go again. The organisers were good enough to admit that they may get things wrong in the first years but that they promised to make it bigger and better each year. Cost ahead of the gate £6 driver and £8 passengers but the price was higher at the gate so worth getting tickets ahead.
Have to be honest, we prefer that sort of thing where there are other things to see rather than sit in a field for 6 hours. But maybe we have short attention span? hahahaha
MM
PS the most upsetting thing of the day was the clubbie GT that came in a car pod trailer to be polished within two inches of its life and constantly primped by the owner ALL day. It screamed out to be driven and covered in mud.

Reminds me of the last MITP at Cornbury Park; some of the BINIs were being washed with Evian (to be fair, some of the Minis might have been washed with Evian too, but I didn't see that), even the obnes that weren't on the concours stands. Most of the concours cars had thicker and better paint finishes than when they left the factory and were never driven. Might as well have a collection of Matchbox cars.

Well at the moment we won't be doing MITP again really disappointed with it again the really upsetting thing for us was the abise one of the other founding members of the club recevied from one of the marshalls standing about half way up the raod after the gate. She was in her new MINI with 3 other new MINI's in fornt of her driven by other members of our club (all male) on of the Marshalls decided to have a go at her for driving a BMW this really up set her as it wasn't said as a joke even the other guys with told him to shut up but he didn't. She has complained to the organizers and Santa Pod. I am totally disgusted that someone who is working for the organizers (paid or unpaid) should be like this and at this moment in time our club will not be attending MITP again.
Siddarz you have hit the nail on the head with the matchbox cars theory most concourse cars are expnsive models many of them aren't driven which is what they were built for. I know everyone has a choise but I really do think that concourse is unfair thoose of us who have nice tidy mini's but use them do not stand a chance against the trailer queens. HOw do people who dirve their cars to shows etc stand a chance against people with box trailers etc??

We had not a bad day at all, it was a lot better organised than any of the previous ones at the Pod The events area was well placed with the stunt driving, Auto test, and man carrying the mini on his head. The announcer did say earlier on in the day that this is their first year so they expect to make some mistakes.
The stunt guy Terry was good atlhough I think I ate most of the rubber coming off his tyres due to the wind and he's not a patch on Russ Swift last weekend. Moonbeam enjoyed sitting in the van and watching the minis going wizzing past and the big cheers when the bmw's minis went down against the classics and the classics won!!
I think the show is good but it is a track day event and it is for people who like to modify there mini's and want to pit them against others. It probably brings in a different crowd to those who like to go to a traditional mini show, but it's still essentially a bunch of mini enthusiasts who want to keep the little cars going.
Missymummy which was your stand as we must have been right next to you all day and didn't realise. We were in the white Oakley Construction van on the auto jumble just down from the finishline? Ger spent most of the day drooling over the GT which they started polishing at around 7am when we got there

There's a Facebook Group called something like "Bring Mini In The Park back to Cornbury" and I think one of your club's members, Mark, has just posted on there about the issue you posted about earlier.
There's also a Group called "Where should IMM 2014 be held?" I know it'll be in England, but that's really being well prepared! There's mention that Southern Mini Owners Club might bid for it - anyone on here like to comment?!

It would be a great honour to host the 2014 IMM, but as yet SMOC haven't discussed this, if they did hold it can anyone guess where it might be held ??????

We didnt have much of a stand as there was only 3 cars. two of which were new ones. We were opposite the Maguires 'clean it til it gleams' stand right next to the stands. There was a Bright blue Bini Cooper, a green and white mini and our yummy choc clubini.
Sorry to hear that some of you got abuse, we had the same thing a few years back at Brooklands but we still go. You cant let the heathen biggots get to you and ruin something that you normally enjoy, believe it or not, one of our Bini owners has had abuse on that thing at the end of the month in previous years but he still comes every year. Be strong and stick to your guns.
