One of my pupils had his test booked for monday next week. He comes from a family that struggles to put a meal on the table and mum has paid for his lessons. He is a "nice" 17 year old lad and we have worked hard together and I believe that he would have passed his test first time on monday but they have delayed his test until october 16th! We have done under 30 hours and instead of paying me £75 for use of my car on test day, he and his dad were to give it a full valet. We now have to juggle a few more lessons nearer his test so at worse it's an interruption.

Then, I pick up a new pupil from a very nice house with Nat west private banking cheque from her parents and she tells me when she has passed her theory she can spec and order a brand new MINI ONE.

Guess who I help the most?

Yes, very interesting isn't it? I can't say as I blame you either, Rita.

Hmm quite a difference there then   She will never appreciate her car as much as the young lad will when he gets his first one

I had something similar happen to me when I was teaching on motorbikes.
It's nice to see the "underdog" coming through, rather than the rich kid having every thing handed to them on a plate

I managed to find a cancellation for this guy. We only had another 2 hour lesson totalling 30 hours in all (average 40-50). He passed his test first time this morning with 4 minor errors. Today was a good day!

If the pupil's that well off I'm sure they'll "need" a few more lessons than normal & you won't be able to get a test for them for a long while

Mind you there's plenty of house that've got a Rolls Royce on the drive & ****** all in the fridge as my mum would say

She's got the hump with me this week. She can only do thursday teatime and I go to slimming club and next week I'm on holiday. And yes I'm sure she'll need a few extra lessons.......

I reminded this girl that she has a lesson today at 4.30 for 2 hours for £40. Guess what, only enough money in the house for 1 hour! I told her I was not prepared to travel that far for 1 hour. ( I would normally and I would probably have let them have a lesson on credit )

She wasn't happy.................he he

This same young lady did not "fancy" her lesson last week so cancelled. Suited me but today she rang to say she has a bad cold and was off work sick. She still wanted her lesson though but could I do earlier? I had a cancellation this morning and would have liked her £40 but told her I did not want her cold and told her if she's not well enough to go to work then she's not well enough for a lesson! She's getting the message.

Next chapter.

Francesca had £40 for her lesson yesterday. She was wearing hard thick soled ug boots and all she did was stall where she could not "feel" her footwork. So progress went backwards.

She told me she's going Christmas shopping friday to monday ( mine used to take me half an hour in our local Woolworths ) but Francesca has got to get to New York!

SOme people just make you feel sick.  While others are thinking how to reduce the cost of christmas people are flying to New York to do thier Christmas shopping!!  I've done most of mine online due toworking on the house I haven't got time to go into town plus on weekends town is full of youngesters and that amkes me feel old!

My first car (whjihc I still have in the garage) was a 1969 MKII Morris Mini that cost £525 it was a car or a party for my 16th birhtday we then spent a year restoring it. During that year I had arts for the min as birthday and christmas presents off my family.  I really to hate the kids who's parents buy them a brand new car and allow them to spec what they want how do they insure them??

Anyone want to sponser me for the LGT?

instead of paying me £75 for use of my car on test day, he and his dad were to give it a full valet.

Bumble had his valet yesterday, he looks nearly new. I asked for the interior (my office) to be extra clean and it is. I have a check test on thursday whereby an examiner sits in the back of the car on a lesson for an hour and assesses my level of instruction and how I get along with pupil.  At present I am a grade 4 and I'm hoping to improve that.

I'm paying the young lad to sit in our house tuesday to receive Andrew's new computer from Dell.

I'm not using Francesca as my pupil!!!  I offer the lesson free to a pupil as they must feel a little awkward so I've chosen a young mum who just manages an hour a week.

2 things on this thread.

Bumble had his valet last saturday and looks really nice. Sparkling clean round central consoles. Glass was so clean they innocently removed my training markers.

Dan did it with his dad to repay me for having the car for his driving test. On tuesday I paid Dan to house sit and wait for Andrew's computer to come, which Domino enjoyed.

Francesca cannot afford lesson next week as she overspent her allowance by £500 in New York. I didn't get a present?

I had my check test and it went fine but I stayed a grade 4. Examiner said I asked plenty of questions but answered them for the pupil. I was happy with that, I got a good overall score for attitude and approach to pupil which is more important to me. Next one in 2 years.
