I've just nearly lost Jess down the toilet   I went in the bathroom, she was on the toilet seat having a drink (aren't they disgusting creatures) I'm not sure who startled who the most, I jumped and so did she trouble is she was precariously perched and only just saved herself from plunging head first into the loo     She's sulking out in the garden now trying to pretend it never happened

It's only disgusting if you've not flushed it. I think Jess is quite clever. Domino goes to a watering can in the garden that we keep full for him.

Jess will be going in the cattery next Wednesday ready for heading for Devon on Thursday (something goin' on down there at the end of the month) or so I've heard but it will be horrible in the house on my own without her Wed night and also on the Saturday when we go home, she certainly makes her presence felt and I miss her terribly when she's not there but hey I'm not missing that thing at the end of the month even for her, much as I love her

My neighbour used to look after Jess but a couple of years ago when we were on LeJog she was taken ill (Jess that is) she had an abscess behind her eye.  My poor neighbour was terrified that poor Jess was going to pop her paws, she took her to the vet (it's no easy task getting her into the carrier) and they admitted her and sorted her out.  Cost me over £100 when I got home.  I've just never liked to ask her again although she does sonetimes pop in on the odd weekend

If we're only away 1 or 2 nights I leave Smoky on his own with 3 full bowls of dried cat food and his cat flap. I have a regular lady who comes to feed him. water the garden and take in the post and I pay her (£10 a day). She is away august bank holiday and as it's 4 nights I've asked a lady up the road to pop in once a day to give him a foil of food, so we'll see how that goes.

The downer is I have to do my housework before the neighbour comes in.
