Watched you all set off at Westward Ho! this morning and it looked great. Holly (my niece) loved it-especially when Alison threw her a blue hospice teddy She waved at all the minis and announced that she wanted a pink one !!
Hope you have all had a great weekend and I am waiting to hear the grand total when you get back!!!
Hi Tracey- I didn't see you! I too went down to see them all. Don't know if Erin quite appreciated all the minis but she didn't cry from the horns so must be good!!
We drove up to Ilfracombe too, pondering over whether the next purchase will be a newer classic, or one of the older Binis!!!

100% a newer classic. Especially as I assume it would be auto? The earlier Binis had problems with the CVT boxes (along with a load of other probs!) If you go for a Bini go for post 2006 (like OB's Gem) it's a much better car.
Oh yes Gem is a great car and was a lot more comfortable for baby Jasmine to travel home from Illfracombe in after being shaken about in nanny Linda's Ltttle Tinker - I think her Daddy quite enjoyed it as well, it was his first trip in a MINI. Needless to say I have now managed to kick my mobile broadband into life ad am busy now catching up on the forum
I was going to ask your advice on that Tracey, thought there were some problems.
OB, I'd love another 06 plate, that's what my previous one was, but can't stretch to that, wish they'd depreciate a bit quicker!!!!
Think I'm set on a classic seeing I can't get anything newer than around 2002 really, but think Gerry has different ideas, as it would be his everyday car.
Hi Debbie- Yeah I think you'd notice a lot of difference beteen your old MINI and a 2002 one, perhaps if it wan't an auto it might be different but personally if I'd known at the time all the issues there were i wouldn't have bothered buying a older MINI in the first place.
just like to thank everyone involved fpr a great time met some old friends and made some new ones and a passion for hockings ice cream will def be back next year and a hello to nieve did you win the tatty teddy

What problems were those? There are hundreds of thousands of older MINIs running around quite happily. Anything serious should have been fixed a long time ago under warranty.
LazyBones is a very early Cooper S, on a 52 reg and has his 7th birthday next week.
The full list of what has gone wrong is:
Alternator belt tensioner replaced under warranty. Gutter trim refixed under warranty. Small leak in coolant expansion tank and door mirror heater failed at 6 years old.
The main facelift was in summer 2004, so there isn't going to be a lot of difference between a 54 reg (or a very late 04 like Solid Gold Mike's) and an 06.
It's was mainly with Autos- there are lots of cases of auto boxes packing up after approx 60,000 miles. The box was altered in 2006 ( of course there's was no prob with it- they just fancied a change....hmmm!!) Thats why I suggested post 2006 as Burmesejack drives Auto. Apart from that , my whole steering rack had to be replaced as it was worn (after only 30,000 miles) and then there's the issues brought up by Watchdog. I'm not saying that they are bad cars , I just didn't want to run the risk of having to replace the auto box when it was out of warranty! They don't replace them as they don't admit there's a prob. If you check out the MINI2 forum there is an extremely long thread of people who have had the problem !
hi neve (scoop) yes it is denise and me john.with the pink mini. are you back at school ps watch out for chips left on the floor
Hi John, this is Louise if you see Buffy on the board that is Neve.............why Betty? that is why we thought it was Denise.........is that the name of your mini?
I wonder if the lady had a few bruises the next day that was an impressive slip on a chip ....but of course she hadn't been drinking!!!!!!
Neve is back to school and enjoying it....amazingly. She is off on her school holiday tomorrow(p4_weehee), she says she is glad to get away from me too
the car is called betty thought you might have noticed the large sticker on the back saying betty i cant believe that respectable looking woman had been drinking she assured me it was her slippery heels is there a lot of vampires in devon or does she just like the show. hope you are getting on well at school we took the car to a show in brighton and denise put the for sale sign on betty but luckily were no no buyers this time.
Apparently after the kebab run they went for chips and a lady went a**e over *** after slipping on a chip (helped by large quantities of alcohol consumed earlier)

She hadn't got to the chip at the time she went down - she "slipped" on the dry, clean floor
