A company based at Exeter Airport that have an aircraft maintained by me are holding a BBQ at Exeter Airport with some children and their families from Little Bridge House. The intention is to try and get as many of the children and their families a flight around the coast. This is going to be a unique experiance for them as we are expecting around 60 people (weather permitting) and we are going to try and get everyone that wants to go a flight. The flights will be for the children and families. I have been roped in to provide some aircraft to look around and help with arrangements. I have spoken to the organisor and he has said that half a dozen or maybe one or two more minis will be gladly welcomed and they would be grateful if we can assist. As a lot of the children will recognise the cars i thought this might be a nice day out if anybody is interested.
We would gladly come down, its all down hill from the Midlands , just let us know what time and where, we could bring one or two which even is required, plus it will save me peeling off the door plaques yet

John,
Can't work out whether you've got enough cars or not. If you need another, let me know and I can be there. However, as it's a round trip of over 250 miles, happy to defer to more local people.
We were thinking about travelling down Saturday afternoon and staying somewhere, over night, is there a travelodge anywhere near or can any one suggest some where decent to stay
Is is johns event so not sure how many minis he wants.

Everyone that has replied to say they can come will be welcome. This event is not down to me but i am assisting in the logistics having a little bit of experiance in aeroplane displays. The whole thing is tottaly weather dependant because we want to give all an oppurtunity to get airborne in an aircraft so if everyone wants to contact me on my mobile on the friday we should have a good idea of the forecast. My mobile is 07973148855. The weekend after has been pencilled in as standby. There is a BBQ with a celebrity chef (Peter Horton) an there will be some of the helpers from the Hospice that everyone knows there. Kick off is 1015. For anyone that does not know how to get there, Leave the M5 at junction 29, turn left (coming from the north) stay in the very left hand lane heading for Rockbeare. travel down through the village and after going up the hill the airport will be on your right hand side. You will then see a rusty old hangar on your right next to a bus shelter. turn right beside the hangar and you will be met by someone to escort you.
Phoned John this morning get there between 10-00 and 10-30

If everyone that is coming can give me a call on 01392445649 or 07973148855 on saturday to make sure that the weather will be ok as i dont want anyone to turn up if the forecast is bad. The whole day is about being able to get the children a flight so it is weather dependant. The following sunday is the standby day.

Well what a day another day we will all remember for a long time.. We ended up with four minis and three of them were from the CHSW mini club. We got there early and helped with the gazbos, then we just did what ever which was not very much. There were a lot of people there and many families from the hospice and everyone just enjoyed themselves. The sun was shining there was live music and the burgers were free and cooked by a celebrity chef. Then to top it all we all got a ride in an airplane, up over Exeter along the coast and back again.. The airplanes about 6 of them, took up over 100 people between them and everyone had a chance to go up. What a day, we made even more friends and met many of the families that use the hospice and it did not cost us a penny, so thank you John and the Hunter flying club for the invitations, it was a fantastic day out.

The event was organised by a gentleman called Stuart Goodrich and i was asked to assist and provide certain items and help for the day as this was a first for him. After the event Stuart and his business partner john asked me to pass on many thanks to all of you for attending and helping. He was over the moon with the success of the day and all the pilots and people involved in the day have remarked on how happy everyone was and the kind remarks that was passed onto them. All the pilots and airport personnel did everything for free yesterday and all of them have asked for this to happen again next year. I think that the greatest statement of the day was from the pilots themselves when they were up in the air and looked round at the passengers wether they had been carried into the aircraft or were parents and children and saw massive smiles on all their faces. I think that just the fact that this was a day for people to enjoy and do something special made the day special in its self. Thanks everyone.
