No fair! It's bitterly cold here, we normally get a bit of snow but no sign yet. February/March are best for snow here, we get snowed in and I go sledging!!

brilliant sunshine here - although I haven't ventured out (wednesday is pyjama day) and i suspect it's a lot colder than it looks. Mind you, was out on the motorbike yesterday, and I've decided i need some sort of heated helmet device with one of those heat curtains like you get in shops. my hands were lovely and toasty, but my face was not!!

Snowed hard in Hemel last night, must be 8-9" deep. Sod going to work today, especially after writing off my car the last time I tried to go to work in the snow It's supposed to be the boys last day of school but I can't see it being open, so it looks like its going to be Playtime!

Yep, enjoy it. A covering of snow here but not enough to disrupt trains so Andrew is now at work. I only had a 2 hour lesson planned on nursery roads so they are frozen so I'm not working either.
quite a bit of snow here, both girls are home , they only had half day any way. poor Kev is stuck in his lorry in hailsham east sussex, the builders yard wont unload him, it was only a dusting when he set off at 4am, now its much deeper and icey, stll he has a load of road salt, all he needs now is a shovel

Office is quiet this morning. Lots of people "working from home" because they "can't get in".
There was only an inch or so on my route to work this morning, I was hoping for much more. It took me longer to get the door lock de-iced than it did to drive to work.
Still plenty of incompetence on the roads though. Why do so many people seem determined to sit in 1st gear with their foot to the floor - or to use the ungritted outside lane of a two-lane dual carriageway at dry road speeds?
Quite alot here, school is closed heard the kids nextdoor cheering when it was announced on the radio, Neil is working from home but I've got to go in later , don't know if we'll still be going to Stoneleigh tomorrow

If you're taking real mini my concern is the damage the salt does. We gave ourselves problems taking red red whine on salted roads on Donut run and not realising the damage done until we began to get him ready for Brighton. The weather forecast looks to be better for the south east tomorrow. We expected today to be worse than it was.
We don't have snow here yet. Very very cold though. Hopefully still get to Stoneleigh though. We have a hotel booked as didn't fancy driving in the morning!
Not taking a Mini they are tucked up for the winter we don't take them out when theres salt on the roads, Ellie and Sonny have been out playing in the snow, Sonny had a really bad tamtrum when Karlee bought him in for a warm up he's having a sleep now
Planet Thanet didin't get much snow at all - the forecast reckons we might get it tonight but to be honest the snow usually misses us for some reason (just lucky I guess) though further up the line they've had it pretty bad I gather
A covering of snow here but not enough to disrupt trains so Andrew is now at work.
It was my last day at work before Christmas and I was all geared up to work at home but sadly there wasn't enough snow to stop the trains. Back in February there weren't any for two days.
its snowing in bideford!! Its only a dusting at the mo, but its looking like more is comming

Snow's leaving Leeds, thru the drains. Still icy but a lot of it has gone now. No problems getting to work yesterday; a lot of people did work from home.
plenty of snow here, they havent gritted the roads so its loads of fun

We had snow, and I took a picture of one of my minis. However, after nearly an hour of trying to upload it, I've given up - so you'll have to take my word for it!

Another covering overnight (woo), driveway is still clear (rock salt 2 nights ago) but the street's going to be icy. Still plenty of green grass to be seen.
Just the weather to be out changing Dennis' battery...
We had plenty of snow up in Essex, didnt stop me going to work on friday, the Hamleys express has to go on although the overnight Artic trunks to Regent street took 8 hours to get back and they couldnt get traction to get the trailers back on the bays back at the warehouse so I had to squeeze my lorry past them to get on my bay. Funny. Motorways were clear although there were plenty of abandoned rear wheel drive cars on the A505. Funny how England seems to grind to a halt when other countries get it much worse and continue.
It rained overnight here and that has frozen making paths that were ok yesterday treacherous. We were due to have Andrew's mum and aunt over today to go to a carol service but both in their 80's were fearful of slipping and did not want Andrew doing all the driving around to get them.
We've got the food in but watching how much we eat!
Last night Domino got a bit of chicken stuck in his throat. It was a bit of bone I missed cutting it up. He was very uncomfortable and I did not really know what to do. I gave him a muscle relaxant and a painkiller and thankfully he settled. I had located an out of hours vet but did not want to miss Strictly final.(I would have looked after him don't worry)
it was snowing again at about 1am this morning, when we were out sledging on the golf course after leaving the pub.

No snow yet, but the rain last night has turned roads and foot paths into an ice rink, I'm on earlies tomorrow and it looks like another cold one tonight. i've put my 5 season sleeping bag in the boot of the car just in case.

Few more flurries today in Leeds, even with ice and snow on top of that between the house and the gritted roads we've not had any problems out and about today.
The Dales have had over a foot in places, but people are still getting about - albeit in 4x4s and gritters. Perhaps it's the only the south east that grinds to a halt 8-)
Just back from Stoneleigh only a dusting up there, the roads got worse the futher south we got coming back........the show was small but it was nice to catch up with some old friends and meet up with Lunamini and Baz

Was great to meet up with you too! My trip back was very picturesque with snow covered fields either side of the motorway. The fun started when I reached my road... I got part way up the hill, sheet of ice, wheel spinning, slip, sliding, no chance! Turned round, carefully went part way back down the hill and stopped at the view point to build up courage to go all the way back down! Finally did that and headed all the way round to the other end of the hill to try that way. To begin with fine, get to 'piano corner' and the same happens! Reverse back down into the entrance to the forest to find my brothers car abandoned there, gives me hope, not! I take a walk and realise with a bit of mini driving I might get round the bend. Build up the courage and off we go. Get round the corner, then the road goes straight and up! Wheels spinning again, car starts sliding down sideways..... I carefully manouvre and then stick my foot down, we're moving very slowly.... suddenly hit non icey road and we're off!!! Whooooooo!! Well done Luna!!
The ice is getting a bit frustrating now. Our road is really icy. Have not taken a car out since it snowed. Walked to town today and caught the bus back. Domino was slipping on the ice and his feet were cold. Main road paths ok but you have to keep crossing the road where the sun has melted the ice. It is now snowing again and settling.
Sainsburys just got down the road ok. It was such hard work carrying the shopping in from the porch. Best £4.50 spent for a long time for someone else to select the shopping and deliver it to your door and not a single substitute. Just got Marks and Spencer food shop to do now. Probably do that on the bus without Domino.

roads mostly cleared, so i foolishly cycled to the gym, where the car park looked slushy, but was in fact icy. i wiped out completely. now sporting an egg shaped bruise with graze on my leg, and discovering new bruises by the minute. And i have to go out again later to babysit. will be taking my borrowed car for that and sticking to the main roads methinks!! oh woe!

Took me no longer to get home last night than the night before. Leeds seems to be managing well, though we haven't had that much. Certainly better than February. No snow yesterday, but started freezing over by 3 in the afternoon.
Nearly followed a gritter part way, but I have enough chips at the moment 8-)

Latest weather for Leeds: it's mostly melting.
The ice that caused practically some chaos on one or two side streets is mostly gone.
Might be another freeze overnight, but I can't see there being any worse until perhaps tomorrow evening. We have light flurries forecast for 1800 onwards.
Our road is still solid ice & it's below freezing already. Looks like driving to work tomorow morning will be fun But at least it can't be as bad as last night.......... I hope!

Where the snow hasnt cleared here, its now solid ice, got a couple of fork lifts stuck today when they tried to unload me, did tell them that if I wasnt reversing up their slope they wouldnt get back up either. Stupid eejits. Its getting a little too hairy in the industrial estates now that have no grit, there was a lot of slushy snow but its clear skies and below zero so gona be solid tomorrow. Happy days, done last Hamleys heathrow delivery before Christmas though.

Went down to Boston (Lincs) via Skegness to pick up the in-laws yesterday (M62, M18, M180, A18, A16, local roads). Took Mrs Siddarz's MINI as mine would be a bit loud for them.
Only dodgy moment was near Louth - clear, treated road going up the hill, 4inch drift coming down it, artic in the middle of the road coming up and not willing (unsurprisingly) to move over to what may, or may not have been a ditchy verge.
No problems coming back A52/A17/A1/M62, all very clear.
This morning though, we've had another couple of inches overnight. One shot up the drive, our street and the next street a bit snowy but no issues, on to the main roads which were slushy. In work at normal time. Snowing again now. Yay!

Yay!
Leeds has now had about 4in of snow since 0430 this morning, work's a bit quiet with about 60% of our office working from home. Some people who did make it in earlier have decided to go home early. Some main roads are closed heading out towards the airport.
The snow's a lot finer now so although it's still coming down it's not really adding to the depth. We did have flakes like sheets of Bounce earlier.
Unfortunately, at about 0400 yesterday morning, my Dad was preparing to drive to work when he slipped on some ice and broke his kneecap, spending 4 hours in surgery yesterday evening. Now deciding whether I'll be driving over to Telford at the weekend to visit. Possibly not if it's like this, or I'll end up doing a slalom round all the abandoned vehicles on the M62...
YAY SNOW IS FAB!!! sent home from school was an inset day however we will be listening to the radio in the morning waiting to see if iv got to get in or not!!!! Mind you I am ment to walk to my local school and offer assistance there but if the snow is that bad im sure i will be unable to find the local school - looks like Dougie and I will have a snow day together - LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!!!
sorry to hear about your dad hurting himself not nice walking in this.
The silly thing is, he'd driven to a petrol station, and found his washer bottle was frozen. He was only walking round the car to put some stronger washer fluid in it when he slipped...
He's not too bad now he's on a ward, but all the snow will be long gone before he's OK to drive to work again...
took me 1 hour to get to work this morning, but left at 11 cos conditions where getting bad, and the police where gonna shut the link road
i think the biggest problem 2moz could be lots of ice

Take care with little Dougie. Back in february when we took Domino out in deep snow, we under estimated how cold the snow was and he was quite poorly afterwards. Little legs.
All this talk of snow I had to go and make meself a hot chocolate

I'm here, our tiny corner of south Leeds had over 6in - more than at work 4 miles away, which explained why Mrs Siddarz was worried about me getting home. There are a few people spending the night at work, including the boss of the security guards who made it in at 0430 on his Pan European motorbike...
The only problem I had getting back was having to stop uphill to let someone out of our street (not enough room to fit 2 cars in the entrance at a time). Easy did it though, no tears, no screaming engine or spinning wheels, no shoves from laughing pedestrians blah blah blah.
BBC weather website reckons a little more tonight, then nothing til Friday or Saturday for us - depending on what bit you look at
the link road was shut from the motorway back to Braunton, cos the gritting lorry's couldn't get out!!
surprisingly i havent gone to work 2day, too dangerous!!

We had a bit last night and a few flakes are falling now but the roads seem ok and the local school is open hope everyone is ok in their part of the UK
So you might not be able to get to work tomorrow. Several train stations are struggling near us but Andrew had planned to work at home anyway so he could help me. He works at Victoria and many of his colleagues have not been able to get in, especially from your area.
hi guys , we had some snow yesterday then some hails not sure what temp was like over night but we woke up this morning to about 3 inches of snow.

Just started snowing big time here, the path I finished clearing 10 minutes ago now has a good cm of snow on it. Driving back from Watford was fun , roads were starting to get quite slippy in places, glad we got sent home when we did. I've now got the fire alight & me thinks it's time for a brandy

I've been out sledging in it today with my neighbours. The forest is soooooo very pretty with all the snow we've had. I took a ruler to the front garden this morning and it was 8" I love the snow because it's so pretty and because of sledging but it causes chaos! Lets hope we'll all be back to normal soon!

I've just come home from baby sitting and the snow is about 4ins on Gem, there was nothing when I went round there at 6 The main road wasn't too bad but my estate is a nightmare, Gem wanted to go in the opposite direction to me. I didn't bother trying to reverse up my drive as I usually do, it was hard enough getting up there forwards.

Slight dusting up here overnight, many crunchy roads. Still enough snow on the roads that hasn't compacted, so still a bit of grip. No probs getting to work, but Dennis' floorpan got a bit of a scraping driving round the car park...
My Dad came out of hospital yesterday afternoon with his kneecap wired up. Full leg cast for 10 days, then back in for them to have another look at it. He's enjoying the painkillers at the mo...
The novelty of the snow soon wears off. We are going out on foot today to get food shopping for Andrew's mum and aunt, they live about 10 miles away and are in their 80's (inheritance protection program). Only joking.
I was staying in while Andrew takes it over to await our Sainsbury's delivery but understandably they've just rung to say no home deliveries so back out to the shops tomorrow, probably Iceland. Bet the shops have been blitzed.
I spent a day yesterday travelling across London to Hammersmith for my hair tightening. There was little sign of snow but it was much colder. On the roads one bus journey from Victoria which normally takes over an hour did it in 30 minutes.
Personally none, except for a bunch of 5 council estate urchins enjoying throwing half-brick sized chunks of ice at the windscreens of passing cars. Snowballs I can deal with, but chunks of ice are not on - particularly if they make it through a window, or the driver responds by slamming on and ending up on the pavement (not me, but a driver behind me).
Even worse is that on calling the police - in the vain hope that there might be a copper in the area who might at least chase them off, or give them a little education - they couldn't understand what the problem was.

I measured ten inches of snow here. There's a picture on my Facebook page - would be on here, but I gave up trying to post it (bl00dy computers!). http://www.facebook.com/home.php#/photo.php?pid=30597971&id=1057301116
After eight hours digging, we finally got one car out yesterday. Another hour and a half, and a second was out this morning. Just going to try and extracate mine - which was nearer the house than the others, so they had to be moved first. By the way, we had four adults here, which is why there were so many cars on my drive, in case you were wondering if I'd started my own car sales business!
See you all later, got to go to daughter's house, to do some work. WORK!! What is that? Forgotten since my redundancy.
When I looked out of the window earlier it was snowing....again....shock horror! I personally am sick and tired of the poxey snow now! The horses are stuck in the stables as the road is too slippy to take them up the the field, our lane is still an ice rink and I don't want to risk taking any of the mini's out. My mum has a 4x4 but won't take it out (whats the point in owning it if our not going to use it!) I was supposed to be seeing Barry this weekend, but now not a chance, no one to get me to the railway station and mum says if I go I prob won't get back with the snow thats forecast so she'd rather I didn't go full stop! arrrghhhhhhh!
my mini is still stuck on the hill cos of ice, so ive been getting lifts to work lately.
work has 6" of snow, so delivery are becoming an issue, and the pavements are like lice rinks >
but on the bright side my Dad has had lots of call outs for frozen & split pipes

The queues at the checkouts were 15 deep at one point yesterday we had to limit the sales of bread, milk, salt and cat litter glad I'm off now for the weekend
We went shopping and Domino carried home his Greggs sausage roll in the paper bag that he recognises and spends his walks looking for discarded ones.
I have a sore area on my forehead/scalp which was not very nice for the hairdressers yesterday. I now have nails so also not helping by scratching it. Someone suggested a "spray on " plaster which I bought in the chemist. I'm still getting over £6.99! I hope it helps at that price. The pump is about 2" high.
I think I got flea bites from Domino, I woke up 10 days ago to a row of bites. I had lapsed his front-line flea treatment and I paid the price.
the coldest temperature ive had on my weather station is -9.4°
the good news is the temp is currently at 0.0° so its getting better

snowing again this morning, its about 10 ins deep. roads a mess. Kevs goingto dig the car out the garage later, but not sure if we will go to the panto, fed up now had enough, no work, means no pay.
I've cancelled tomorrow's lessons. Some 17 year old that's been driving half an hour will no doubt ask why. Life, limbs, car and reputation too valuable but as Andrea says, no-one pays us to stay at home.
The road is still an ice rink, but we did get mail and a paper yesterday so things had begun to get back to normal. Everything's frozen again now though so we're back to stage one! Dad has taken a trug of grit out and a shovel to try and clear the road, but how long it will last I don't know! And this is forecast to last untill Wednesday, I really hope it goes away soon, I'm fed up of being stranded here!
It thawed alot here over night and it's been raining/sleeting this morning, Neils still at work but will hopefully be home in time to go to the panto later hope we don't get any more of the white stuff, roll on summer
We've been pet shop and food shopping. It is warmer but we too had some drizzle/sleet which we don't want now to freeze. Iceland is so cheap £1 for 4 pints milk.
We're going to take my car to Mitcham Junction and then catch a tram to Wimbledon and then walk to the theatre. I've only just realised Brian Blessed is in it. I don't like him, I'm only going to see Paul!

It has thawed a bit here, but nowhere near enough. Our cul-de-sac is still treacherous, and the uncleared areas are piled high. There was a loud crash a couple of hours ago, and when we looked at the house opposite, the roof is clear of snow/ice, but part of the guttering is hanging off and presumably the other part is under the "avalanche" on the ground!

The panto in Dartford was excellent but unfortunately Neil wasn't home in time to go, Scott came along instead, he really enjoyed it he hasn't been to a panto since he was young, think I'll have to buy 4 tickets next year Hope you enjoyed seeing Paul, Rita

A little more overnight up here, about an inch or so. It had started melting a bit yesterday with some wet sleet yesterday evening. 0630 this morning we had fine hail on higher ground (settling) and sleet on lower ground (sort of settling). Still too dark outside the office to see if it's still coming down.
A JCB came in to work on Saturday to clear snow from the car park, so we can now see the white lines, but with the slush, there's now a layer of slippery slush everywhere which seems worse than it was before the JCB.
I seem to be one of the only people round here who would like it to carry on...
Snow is nice but a pain due to the interruption it causes and we're not best prepared. Our main roads are fine but our side roads need perfect conditions to clear. I really hope it does not freeze. Domino pulls me violently as he is so excited at the snow. He got an audience today in town, roly polying in the snow. He was covered!
Just seen pictures of Exeter and Dartmoor areas. Looks really bad. Hope it dodges Bideford area. Snow is melting slowly here today. We might get a little more overnight. Keep safe.
We've had a couple of inches overnight and it is snowing quite heavily now. It's laying on the bushes and trees which it did not do last week when it was much deeper. Did Westward Ho? miss the bad snow?
We had a couple of inches (of snow) fall on top of ice overnight & the roads this morning are absolutely horendous, just taken over 1 1/2 to get to Watford. Mind you not helped by a stupid T**T in 4x4, stopping on hills & at junctions when no need to at all >

We had a couple of inches last night our road was still white before that so now it's really whiate and icy Need to decide if we are meeting for the Mini club tonight I personally think we won't be as the carpark was white over at the pub this morning and the roads aren't that good....

Yes, Westward Ho! missed it. Not that Neve was happy this morning as it meant she had to go to school

Probably showing off they can pull away in snow. I've just taken Domino out, having cancelled my lessons and the roads are at a standstill.
Well I'm still stranded! Several more inches of snow over night last night, so much so that you can barely see poor Charlie's wheels! Dad hasn't gone to work, hopefully it won't hang around long this time though, I'm going Stir crazy!! The snow plough (local farmer in Tractor) has been up so parts of the road are probably drivable but we're forecast for it to freeze over night so the chances are it will be an ice rink again in the morning. I sometimes wonder why we decided to move to the middle of no where! x

A snowy plough (council one) went up and down Mom and Dads lane the other day dad nearly fell over with shock probally becuase the lane runs by the canal and it's a fair drop down into the canal if you went through the fence.....
Getting really fed up with the snow now it's getting silly.

Little bit more overnight but it looks like it's all over for us, apart from the melt of course.
Spotted this though, for a bit of local interest:
Quoted Text
Devon & Cornwall Police are reminding drivers to use common sense and to clear their vehicles of ice and snow before attempting to drive.
The warning comes as a member of the public spotted some hazardous driving which they captured on camera... in Lea Road, Tiverton on 6th Jan 2010 and shows a car being driven by an elderly lady.
The lady, who was driving to pick up food and medication, was spoken to by police who also provided her with an ice scraper. Officers also spoke to the lady’s neighbours and have asked them to offer help in the future.
Insp Matt Lawler, sector inspector for Mid Devon said: "This is an extreme example, but shows how important it is for drivers to listen to the warnings and advice that police and other agencies are offering. I don’t think we are asking a lot - just for some common sense to avoid unnecessary accidents."
and here's a link to the pic as I couldn't work out how to resize it with the img tag, it's a bit huge:
That's scary! A lot of people don't clear their car roof and as soon as they stop a bit abrupt or turn quickly the screen is often covered in snow. We have a doctor in our road who works in A&E at St Georges and I witnessed him drive onto the main road with 2 little eye peep holes scraped out the iced up windscreen. Perhaps he wanted to drum up some business!
Thank Goodness, no more snow over night for us! In fact it's beginning to melt here! I think I will still have to dig the mini's out but it looks like I might be able to escape this weekend!

No snow to speak of between here and Canterbury - but it's really very cold when your borrowed car doesn't have any heating! (or music but my shuffle fixed that - until i started wailing and my breath fogged the car up).
Mini Jock might be swiss cheese, but at least his heating sort of worked! Not that I'm complaining - i've become fond of Mr. PDU even if he has issues and no power steering, and no heat - it's like a driving home from home!
I'll be glad to get back on the bike - it's warmer!

they're going to chop out everything outside the liver (so the cysty blobby thing, and the gall bladder in special 2-for-1), and then plug the liver back in somewhere else. That's a gross over simplification, but about right!
7 days in kings will be fun, and then they said 4-6 weeks recovery! bah humbug i say - you go to the gym and get all fit, and then poof it'll all be gone and i'll have to start all over again!
kings said i should have a date by 3 weeks - which would have been christmas - and then it snowed and upset everything... so i haven't heard yet. But I'm going to the next fitness fiesta at camber sands at the end of february, so it will have to be after then!
