Hope you all enjoy seeing the New Year in, whatever you're doing. How are you going to say 2010?

I shall be mostly at home, drinking beer, eating the last of the xmas nibbles and catching up on plenty of telly. Might even go first-fotting this year...

Must be, they have funny traditions up North, like gritting roads when it's going to snow

(p4_newyear) first footing was a Scottish custom! a dark man to be the first person to cross the threshold with some coal and various other bits for luck - something like that anyway   Me I shall probably be in bed unless there is anything interesting on the telly to keep me awake, most unlikely   See you all in 2010 (however it is said)

Darn my tired digits... yes, OB had it right, it should have been first-footing

As it turned out, Mrs Siddarz needed to get to sleep some time before the new decade, so we missed the revelry - though the beer was most definitely drunk. Think I might have been too...

Happy new year. I went first footing too last night. It is a northern thing. I take lump of coal out of the back door as Big Ben strikes and then come in through the front door, (remember to unlock it first), bringing good luck for the new year. Its supposed to be a dark haired person, who is supposed to first foot, so will need some Gretian 2000 for next year.

We had a pleasant day on parade. There were thousands upon thousands of people lining the route. many tourists. The route is only 2 miles but we were an hour before we started moving and overall it took 3 hours from midday. As it's so slow you stop alongside people and try to make polite conversation. I only know English and French.

I began by walking Domino by the side of the car but he peed up the barrier (and up someone's leg) so we retired to the warmth of the car.

Unfortunately, we had an idiot in a BMW cooper S works driving really silly, catapulting and weaving. Terry would have him off LGT. Many marshals and police raised their eyebrows and the commentators were saying "there has to be one". We were amused when smoke billowed out from his bonnet, it calmed him down a little. I hope his actions have not spoiled our chances of being invited back next year.

Happy New year everyone from me and Barry. We spent New Year in Bideford with James and Kate and I've not long been back home (I do wish I was still away though, I've enjoyed getting away!)
We visited Terry today before heading home.
Hope you all enjoy what 2010 is going to throw at you!

Yep, that's right.

There was one in the parade which had parked up in Whitehall, looking as if it had dumped all of its coolant on the road.

Happy New Year to everyone!

We spent the evening at a free yes FREE maskerade ball/party down the local pub. Lots of alcohol consumed and some bad dancing engaged in but good time had by all. There was karaoke too but declined that one. Rolled home sometime after 1am. Managed to get up early enough to attend the local classic car show depite the mini being iced up inside and out, condensation hanging off the head lining etc etc. Was funnier when we went to leave mum in laws as the locks had frozen solid!! Good old minis.

Hope everyone gets over their coughs and colds soon, think I've got a bit on one but as I sneeze all year round its hard to tell.

xx

Yes it was a shame that it happened. I heard the comment from the commentators and it was broadcast throughout. I hope that Gary can have a word with the driver involved (FULL car registration is with me) and ask that it doesn't happen again in the future. Whist we take part in the event at our own risk we are liable for any injury or accident that occurs as a result of someones ignorance of the rules and regulations of the event.

I hope that we can be invited back for next year but considering the battle that me and Gary had to fight to be accepted once again it was just a shame that some chose to ruin it.
