i'm with talk talk. ok now, but the initial setup was a pain - didn't work, every time i rang up they got me looking at/trying the same things. try back in x amount of time. Had to work at mum's and her connection was soooooo slow. mum and lisa with sky. lisa no problems so far, but mum had a hiccup last week or when ever.
i don't think any of them are perfect, and they're all reliant on bt at the end of the day anyway. so - don't know really.

No problems with BT since I switched to them this time last year. One really good thing about using BT is as they provide the phone line they can't blame a third party if there is a problem. Is their line, it's their broadband, so if there's a problem it's their problem

i got the speed boost with talk talk - and work pays for 90% of my broadband costs anyway - so that's ok!

I've been on Sky broadband ever since it became available in my area 3 years ago with no problems at all. The main drawback with Sky seems to be that if you need customer service it doesn't seem that good. But I've never needed it.
BT seems expensive for broadband but as Jack K says there can be benefits of having it all in one place.
TalkTalk had a really bad reputation for customer service (or lack of it!) when they launched but I belive it's a lot better now and as you say it seems good value.
Another one that I've heard good reports on is Plusnet - http://www.plus.net
Our annual contract for free evening calls with BT is up for renewal next month so it might be time to reconsider or we might just stay as we are. Our Sky broadband went up by £5 this month as we had been shielded from last year's surcharge for not having SkyTalk due to the TV package we're on.
To be fair to Sky the problem I had before Christmas was down to a problem in the exchange, but as Andrew points out their customer service is not so good. If the first person I spoke to had told me the problem was at the exchange it would have been a more sensible than crawling around unscrewing sockets and changing filters, but as a general rule they have been very good.

I know it's no help to the original post on this thread, because I'm on cable, so it'd involve digging up the drive. As a Virgin Media customer (broadband, tv, land line & mobile phone), I'd say that 99.9% of the time it's great, but OMG when you hit the 0.1%, and speak to the aforementioned call centre in Mumbai, you'll wish you were born 200 years earlier, and were only suffering with Rickets, TB, Bubonic Plague etc! I pay £65/mth for all of the above (including free calls 24/7 to land lines [01,02,03 numbers] from my land line, as well as 200 minutes + 200 texts/mth from my mobile). I don't have Sky Sports or Movies tho. Oh yes, and that's 20mb. broadband - believe that, you'll believe anything!! Not sure if that helps anyone, but Hey Ho.
