I had a strange one today, eventually got round to washing the car after Bingley Hall, but my Optima battery was flat, struggling to turn the engine over, very unusual for a spiral cell technology battery with 1000 amp hour cranking capacity but what happened next was bizarre. Turned the ignition off, all of the warning lights went out as you would expect BUT the engine kept turning over slowly. I had to run around and dis-connect the battery

IS MY IGNITION SWITCH AT FAULT?

I used to have a Maestro which did the same. I took it to a garage and the mechanic came out. He said switch it off, its sounds a bit rough. I handed him the key, "I  have switched it off and locked and it", and it was still going! I think it was a timing problem causing running on.

I'm still investigating snag, battery is being charged and a voltage drop test carried out. If that's ok it will be time to examine vehicle components..

Battery appears to be ok, re-fitted and started car fine, I'm using it on sunday for a little bit of fund raising. Hopefully it will behave?
