As you know I had some tests for "heart" problems and at my last appointment 3 months ago the specialist told me to stop taking the beta blockers but continue the water pills and statins which I did from that day. He wrote to my doctor's and they adjusted my routine prescription drugs

I went today for a prescription review and was confused when she talked about a drug I should be taking (the water pill that reduces blood pressure). I said I did not recognise that name on the tablet pack I was taking.

To cut a long story short the doctors took the wrong drug off my prescription repeat so I have been taking beta blockers needlessly but not the blood pressure pill for the last 3 months. Consequently today my blood pressure was high again but my pulse was 44!

I'm concerned I did not realise but trusted what the doctor's prescribed. I have felt a little subdued and not have to run to the loo quite as much as I used to. My weight loss had slowed down too and I was eating no differently. I now have the right pills. They were a tad embarassed.

I'm not surprised...

Hope there's no lasting effects

you have to rely on these people as knowing what they are doing - it's slightly worrying that they could make a mistake like this!!!

Got no confidence in my doctor either, he increased my blood pressure tablets and I ended up in hospital with high levels of potasium in my blood luckily all was well again within 24 hours but it was a worring time

Guess what. 48 hours of stopping taking the betablockers I had a 45 minute spell of serious chest pain. I score them out of 10 and I gave it an 8, the same as the one that caught me out on Grand tour last year at Bideford Park. Luckily my spray under the tongue sorted it 2nd attempt but that leaves you feeling sick and faint. Back to doctor's monday but you never see the  same one twice at our place.
