As you know I had some tests for "heart" problems and at my last appointment 3 months ago the specialist told me to stop taking the beta blockers but continue the water pills and statins which I did from that day. He wrote to my doctor's and they adjusted my routine prescription drugs

I went today for a prescription review and was confused when she talked about a drug I should be taking (the water pill that reduces blood pressure). I said I did not recognise that name on the tablet pack I was taking.

To cut a long story short the doctors took the wrong drug off my prescription repeat so I have been taking beta blockers needlessly but not the blood pressure pill for the last 3 months. Consequently today my blood pressure was high again but my pulse was 44!

I'm concerned I did not realise but trusted what the doctor's prescribed. I have felt a little subdued and not have to run to the loo quite as much as I used to. My weight loss had slowed down too and I was eating no differently. I now have the right pills. They were a tad embarassed.

I'm not surprised...

Hope there's no lasting effects

you have to rely on these people as knowing what they are doing - it's slightly worrying that they could make a mistake like this!!!

Got no confidence in my doctor either, he increased my blood pressure tablets and I ended up in hospital with high levels of potasium in my blood luckily all was well again within 24 hours but it was a worring time

Guess what. 48 hours of stopping taking the betablockers I had a 45 minute spell of serious chest pain. I score them out of 10 and I gave it an 8, the same as the one that caught me out on Grand tour last year at Bideford Park. Luckily my spray under the tongue sorted it 2nd attempt but that leaves you feeling sick and faint. Back to doctor's monday but you never see the  same one twice at our place.

Just another chapter in the lives of the Bakers and their ups and downs. It was May 3 years ago that Leigh came home and told us she had BC, that was a night mare. Well last week she was booked in to get another mastectomy and start the reconstruction. We didn't know until a few weeks ago just how worried she was about having her other Breast removed,  just in case they found something nasty.

Well she turned up at the hospital last Monday at 7-00am because she first on the list.  Then someone told her that her blood count was not right and she had a liver problem so they had put off her operation. It was the worse day of all our lives Leigh said the thought of the BC coming back was even worse than being told you have it. 7 hours, 2 MRI scans and 1 CT scan later she was told that she had a cluster of blood cells attached to her liver very similar to a strawberry birthmark but it was nothing to worry about since it has shrunk over the past 3 year

Someone special from the BC team had cancelled all her appointments to stay with Leigh and Pete and  help them though the day but that was when the muck hit the fan. The person from the BC team hit the roof they had allowed Leigh to think for the last 7 hours that her BC had come back. Her outburst went around the Hospital very quickly and they operated on Leigh at 8-00pm that evening.

She came out of hospital last Friday saying she felt like she had been kicked by a horse and she would know and the only extra bits she had was the 2 bottles attached to her drains. I phoned her this afternoon and she was walking around tescos with Linda and Jasmin holding her bottles.

Last week we stayed at Minehead and Jasmin had the pleasure of me and Linda looking after her. I got her up and fed her and Linda changed her nappy of course. We also got to see Amelia and Josh Nicolas new little on.

So there is another chapter in the Bakers family history.

You're lucky Rita I had James and Luke for a while on Sunday - Luke informed me that there was a nasty pong and it was probably James - he was right   my one advantage is I have no sense of smell but it was still very grim smell or no smell

the good thing about changing your childs nappy, is that you can remind them of it in later life, hehe

Went and saw a different doctor yesterday. Very caring and she had read all my notes and explained things so 30 minutes later I came out happier with much lower blood pressure  and a pulse of 62 instead of 44.

And with the blood pressure pills working by making me lose fluid I lost 7 pounds at slimming club. The girls all want to go to their doctors.
