That thing at the end of August is only 33 days away, so lets not get to excited like we did with Dartington Crystal. 33 days to the world greatest mini convoy. two and a bit days of real mini cruises, one mini behind the other. you will never know how big it is until you see it.
BEAR FORCE ONE Terry is a muppet on the end of the arm of Tony Bear I LOOK, I LISTEN, I LEARN AND TAKE A STEP CLOSER TO THE FUNNY FARM EVERYDAY Bear force One. Working thrice as hard, for thrice as many children, getting to the funny farm three times as quickly Not long to go now then.
We have been rehersing getting excited and had a fancy dress rehersal for the car, this weekend. Its not quite the same in a convoy of one, but the car drew lots of attention from confused neighbours and we even got sponsored too. All we need now is a very large trailer to carry all the props, make up and costumes on, as we are sure it will never all fit in the car.
Sounds like the LGT was made for you. Does anyone else have a dress rehearsal before they come down.

We're boring, we don't do fancy dress but enjoy watching the others dress up. I think it's better when there is no theme. I used to dress the car but not since I had it re-sprayed.........

26 days and 4 hours and I find a large nut on the garage floor underneath where my mini is parked. Visions of a ball joint separating as we approach Lynton flashes through my mind, or a tie bar falling off in Bideford Park. I carefully rolled the mini out of the garage and and jacked it up, removing both wheels. I carefully checked the steering and suspension, but no missing nut. Just then my son arrived. "what are you doing he asked?". "I found a nut on the floor", "oh thats the one I dropped yesterday when I was looking for washers in your tool box" he said. Please tell me children under 30 aren't allowed on the run.
that is something I will have to look into normally only children over 30 are allowed to to attend

We use the A39 From Bridgwater to Minehead through Lynton, Barnstable to Bideford. A lovely run, Porlock Hill to test the car, Lynton to practice your waving skills and Barnstable to test your patience in the traffic.

Going round in circles again
When we're planning to leave depends on when we're planning to get there - meeting up at services is cool, but you're going to be much closer to the M5 than we are...
Best route for us is A46/M1/M69/M6/M42/M5, Strensham services just before J8 and the M50 would be good?
Google and Bing both reckon 170ish miles or 3 1/2 hours to get there, so we'd probably get there around 1130 if we set off at 0700, allowing for loo breaks etc and the fact that I won't be sat at 80mph...
That then leaves us another 150ish miles on the M5/A361/A39 to get to Abbotsham - 2 3/4 hours according to the route finders, so add another hour on. Not too late at all to set the tents up, I don't think.
