Picked up a bottle of milk today and read the sell by date 27 August put it back and tried to find one that said 23rd august but they were all gone. i know that thing is heading towards us like a steam train and I feel like the railway children trying to hold it back but it is not working. Booked the advert today for the papers, door plaques should be ready in a couple of days but some plonker keeps going in and ordering more LGT tee shirts. May l also take this opportunity to thank Somerset minis for dumping all there booking form on me in one go. I have reserve car park E for them the one you can see when the tide is out.

That's not helpful is it? Are they staying at the site at The Big Sheep? Out of interest, how many people are expected at the site, and how many Minis are booked in for the Runs?

The date is rushing towards us, and I'm going to start getting stuff together/checking it over, today.

Anyone know if Asda at Atlantic Village is the nearest supermarket, and whether they also do breakfasts, please? Or, would you use Morrisons?

Thanks,

R.

I am not bothered about Somerset Minis I knew they were coming and only joking about putting them in carpark what ever. The runs not doing to bad slowly climbing up I will do an update of the camping number later on today and then we can work out how many toilet rolls we need and how many bottles of water.

Yes, the right number of both would be useful. As I'm bringing my Seat Estate, as well as my Mini, I'm happy to go to the supermarket & load that up with provisions on Thursday/Friday next week, if that helps (water/toilet rolls etc). In fact, happy to do whatever's needed either day - but wouldn't want to step on Carol's toes, as "Chief Bog Cleaner!"

Why do we have secrets? It makes us tell lies. It's like people keeping their fancy dress theme secret. I know a big club kept trying to keep their theme a secret but someone "let the cat out the Bag" and we know. So what? Life's too short, not to have things to look forward to.
I'm sure the mugs will be a unique colour for those who collect them. It's nice when the plaques match the colour of your mini.

Yes Krakatoa is coming down as last year. But only the one car with dog on board too. It's too costly to bring a MINI down just for dog and luggage. Domino no longer "digs" the leather so we can keep to one. Domino has had his holiday bath and haircut so no river paddling for the coming week.....

That thing was not as much fun in a MINI, the crowds stopped waving. Could have been worse.....

Richard out of interest what route do you take? We were thinking of dropping more south?

Just to let everyone know the colour of the door plaques and grill plaques is not the same colour as the tee shirts this year. After we chose the colour for the Tee shirts and ordered them the Grill plaques man said the colour is hard to see on a white back ground if the sun is shining. As the sun will be shining all weekend this year we felt it better to change the colour. Hope you under stood that.

Sorry Rita, was having dinner, hence delayed response.

I live within a mile of the M27 near Portsmouth, so I head west on that. In the New Forest this road becomes the A31, and beyond Bournemouth it then becomes the A35 (same road all the way!). I stay on that until Honiton (where it joins the A303), I then get on the A373, which joins the M5 at Junction 28 (service station at that junction). I head NORTH on the M5 for one junction, and take the A361, all the way to Barnstaple. 187 miles to Morrisons in Bideford. Usually about 3hrs (+ stop). We're leaving at 4am on Thursday, aiming for a cooked breakfast in Bideford at 8am!

For you to do this route, I'd use the M25, then the M3 (which is probably your normal route), but then stay on the M3, rather than join the A303 at Basingstoke. This would lead you onto the M27 at Southampton. Probably 4hrs+. How does that compare with your normal journey?

Hope that helps,

No problem for the delay!

Thank you for your suggestion, your route backs up a plan that I was hatching.

In the past we have normally come down the M4 (stopping at Reading) and M5 (stopping at Gordano), which comes out at 70-80 minutes for each of the 3 legs so 3½-4 hours in all. Many years ago we used to do the A303 but that has its moments around Stonehenge so we are looking at something that is hopefully a little more peaceful. I'd rather drive a longer route for half an hour than sit in traffic for 30 minutes.

We'll probably do the A31 from Guildford to Winchester (which means we can avoid the M25 and a large chunk of M3 and in theory only takes 5 minutes longer) and then stop at Rownhams and the services at the M5/A361 junction. Autoroute reckons that'll be just under 4 hours.

We're looking at leaving at 4am on Saturday.

I can remember our first 'thing' when we camped at braddocks, then the next year we stayed at a hotel for some reason . Every since then we've had a weeks holiday with our caravan, but sadly this will be our LAST!            In our old caravan that is, with the arrival of our second child we have simply outgrown it after twelve years

Only Monday and Tuesday to work then we are on our way to sunny Devon...

Finally I have a question for you. should I break with tradition or can the red teddybear come as a hippy
