We had a dusting over night but at 7.30 it was snowing quite heavily. On our dog walk I assessed the roads for today's driving lessons. I reluctantly took the decision to come off the road. Driving test centre would have cancelled today's tests. No one pays me to stay at home but I know one of my pupils dad will challenge me. His son has just failed his theory for the 4th time so I suggested he does that. His dad is scary.......

Ditto. Sat in the office now with Tony (LEJOG co-driver) representing our entire team as most of them have decided to work from home.
Due to lower speeds and some people (not us) getting stuck on one particular hill, it took 5h50 to get from Skegness to Leeds on Sunday (normally 2h30), in Dennis, with my LGT trailer on the back.
we ahd a couple of inches of snow yesterday but last night it turned to ice. Bean mini got off the drive and to work ok but my berlingo wasnt going anywhere till lunchtime. schools shut or opening later.
had about 5-6 inches over night and its been snowing on and off all day, main roads not too bad but side roads grim...hope we don't get much more of the stuff

our village is snowed in!! Only 4x4's moving and getting out. Currently looking at 16 inches on the road out-side. More forecast for this evening and tonight. The trip down to devon at the weekend might be fun.....
We're not to bad at all though every night this week thay've said its going to smow hard over night, just spoken to my sister in Scotland and they have at least 18" and it went down to minus 13 last night and its already minus 7 this evening
... and that stuff's much worse than the snow that everyone else is having.
There's a foot in places round here, though some of that may be drift-based. Still got to work this morning in Dennis, though my new sofa didn't make it yesterday.
We've had fresh snow overnight. No Southern trains at all so Andrew is working from home, having signed on at 6am. I'm waiting for the test centre to decide if they are going to conduct a pupils test at 14.42. Have to ring back at midday. I'm sure they won't but they have to be seen as trying. Don't want any of my pupils driving my car in this weather.
Scott is in Reculver nr Margate and he said it did snow down there overnight and is still snowing now it's still snowing here too I wont be going into work this evening
Yes its snowed quite a bit here now tho its worse up in the Medway towns we hear and its still snowing - only 5 of us made it in to tthe aqua class this morning instead of the usual 16 n 18
there was 14 inches of the stuff on my car this morning. i still made it into work!

snowed all day - but was really good and stayed inside working, even when lisa asked if i wanted to go out to play.
however, we went to the park this evening instead and had a play - and there was no one else getting in my way. slidey run had iced up nicely and lisa giggled like a loon. i was much more restrained myself, obviously.
side roads all beautifully compacted and icy now, but no trouble for me in my devon wellies!

Well I had to go to Norwich on Tuesday, wasnt too bad on A11/A47, but then had to go from there to Central Leeds, only took me 7hrs, A1 was realiy bad around Doncaster and further up, after finishing laye Wednesday evening the snow was really heavy we were lucky to get out back on to the motorway and home M! was down to 2 lanes down to Derby then it was clearer , the eastern side seems worse, spoke to one of our lads in Kent and it bad there today, mind you too the kids to school in the mini this morning
On our dog walk yes it was thawing but the pavements were more slippery than yesterday. I'm going to check some of the side roads I use tomorrow. Hopefully will be able to get working again monday. Mags you not going to your SMOC Christmas party this year?
We were warned of possible sleet today. On my early lesson we did have some sleet. I popped home and went out on my next lesson 5 minutes away to blue skies and sunshine. My pupil drove away and I had planned reversing on quiet corners on side roads. Within 5 minutes it began to snow. We did a turn in the road but it soon began snowing quite heavily. We talked about what to do when reversing round a corner but whilst doing so the kerb and the white lines disappeared. Then it became a serious blizzard, my pupil was stunned how quickly the weather changed. He only lived round the corner so I let him drive home really slowly and get used to how the car responded. We had been out 30 minutes so I felt £10 was fair. It then took me 45 minutes to get home, there was traffic chaos.
The funny thing is he was not very happy a couple of weeks ago when I had to cancel his lesson because of the snow and ice but he was pretty keen to get out the car today. Heavy snow forecast for tomorrow.
So far were fine although according to ther local radio other parts of the county haven't fared so well, it didn't manage to climb above freezing all day although the sun shone for most of it. As we had rain all day yesterday all the puddles were solid ice
I was in Croydon at the John Lewis, just cold and icy, but after leaving around lunchtime there was about an inch of snow around the M25 going toward the M1, and snow up as far as Milton Keynes then clear until around Coventry airport, but nothing at Warwick , so it seems abit patchy but more forecast for the morrow
Hi we are in Burnham On Sea got about 3 inches yesterday and woke up to about 6 inches today. No work so ok. Drove from Bristol last night none in Bristol but sheet ice on the A38 took 2 1/4 hours to do 30 mile.
Snowed solidly when we were out on our dog walk today. Now got another 4 inches of snow on top of yesterdays. Heathrow and Gatwick both closed. I hope it all goes before Christmas so people can travel to each other.
the link road was shut this morning with stuck lorries
been out playing this afternoon with andy and his range rover, but most of it has gone on the roads

Yes Mags I've been listening to the radio and it sounds horrendous out there, needless to say I've stayed in, in fact I looked after my neighbours dog while they went to watch their granddaughter dance in a show in Birchington - it then took them two hours to get home!!!
Started snowing around 7am, didnt stop till 6pm, there is around 10 to 12 inches, roads terrible , clear the paths about 4 times then an hour later theres two inches of snow back, plus its due to freeze tonight, none of the mian roads have been cleared, worst Ive seen the roads since I had my first mini 25 yrs ago, even the main road from Redditch to Birmingham was un gritted, lots of smug people in big 4x4, at least their cars will be of some use for at least 3 days this year

We had a fair drop of the white stuff on Sunday night. I actually walked into work this morning as our road was really bad. I've now finished digging out my van and it's on the main road ready for tomorrow's foray. I was the only one to get in today, no removals took place and some customers were, shall we say, on a different planet. They couldn't understand why a 17 tonne removal van could not get up their snowed in road.
Just got back from Disneyland Paris, loads of snow out there, 6" fell Sunday & about 4" Monday, but it was soon cleared once it stopped so no problem getting about

we have had a further 4/5 inches to go with the load that fell on Saturday that hadnt gone, roads were really poor on Monday, saw a funeral car struggling to reach the Crem, none of the main road go cleared until Tuesday, and then weve had this lot, no one seems to clear there our paths or outside their house these days

We've had snow again in Leeds - but only a couple of mm dusting. Made things fun on the way into work though, bit slippy. Took me 15mins instead of 10 to get to work. Shocking.
