We normally stay in a cottage in Fremington. Last year we paid £450 (10% discount) so base price was £500. This year although we have pencilled it in the base price is £550. In this climate how can people justify a 10% increase. It begins to make a week away expensive as we spend 3 days busy away from the property. Travelodge is just under £200 plus £20 for Domino.
I think a lot more people will be booking into the campsite this year. It was nice to see the look of surprise on their faces when they saw just how good it was. I have always been conscious of the cost of the weekend and by running our own campsite we have brought the cost down. I think a few more people may be staying for longer.
We are trying to make it possible to use the next field which would give us a lot more space. Don't forget we have plenty of generators so plugging in an hair dryer would not be a problem. I think the ladies toilets had an hair dryer in them.
We welcome camper vans and caravans.

We've booked the Travelodge for 4 nights, no deals on at the moment, but as we paid a flexible rate we can cancel & re-book if they do come down in price

totally worn out, shouting, ' Holy s*!t... What a Ride!! ' '
We have got one you can borrow we will be staying at the same farm b and b as last year but as you say the price does go up every year, we are only down for 5 days this year instead of the usual 12

I went out at 5.30 this evening and when I got back at 8.00 my form was lying on the mat!!!! I know my post doesn't usually arrive much before midday - but this is ridiculous

I know......get a tent!!!!!
If you got a tent you could keep it down here and we would make sure it was up before you got here. You could get quite a nice tent for the price of a few days B&B. You just have to remember you no longer have to crawl into them and the creepy crawlies can't get in. Then all you have to get is 2 of those big air beds and thats about it.

Seen any flying pigs? Even Siddarz suggested oil heaters as it was a tad chilly. And he's a tough northener so how would us southern wimps cope?
Andrew has Reynaud's which is where your arteries are not wide enough to allow blood flow, not good when you're cold. He had one of his 24 hour headaches wednesday and did not feel very well at 5 am when he got up as usual to go work on thursday. He was walking over our local railway bridge by the road and collapsed. He did not feel faint. At 6.30 no-one was around so he came too having grazed his leg and chin and ruined his trousers. And what did he do then? He got the train and went into work. Not looking very good and quite pale they rested him and took him to a walk-in NHS clinic where they did a lot of tests. When he felt better he came home and has rested. To see his own doctor monday.
Why did he go to work when I could have driven a mile and picked him up?
I can understand why camping would be a big no no but there must be away maybe some one will come up with an idea. On the other hand could we put up with you on the campsite for a whole week. ONLY JOKING and I am sorry to hear about Andrews day must of been hard.

Travelodge will be fine for a roof over our head. We eat most of our meals out on LGT anyway. Looking at other properties in North Devon for the same week £550 is not too bad. But having booked a week away for Dartington too, we need to make cutbacks, as we all are having to do.

Luke and I were very snug in our air beds with built in sleeping bag + another sleeping bag inside the air bed + another sleeping bag over the top as a quilt. In fact luke got so hot one night he woke up wet through with sweat! I don't believe in being cold.....
