For the next chance for a run out and picnic after the LGT there is this a big classic car meet organised by the Thornfalcon Garage near Taunton see below from there website
""OUR THORNFALCON CLASSICS ANNUAL LUNCH-TIME MEETING, SUNDAY, 5th SEPTEMBER 2010, AT OUR NEW VENUE, THE PARKLANDS, HENLADE, NR.TAUNTON, SOMERSET, WAS A GREAT SUCCESS WITH A RECORD ATTENDANCE APPROACHING 1100 VEHICLES DESPITE POOR WEATHER. MANY VISITORS CREDIT THE POPULARITY OF OUR MEETING TO ITS FORMAT: IT IS FREE OF CHARGE, NO BOOKING IS NECESSARY (ALTHOUGH IT DOES HELP TO KNOW IN ADVANCE IF CAR CLUBS AND LARGE GROUPS WISH TO ATTEND), AND COME AND GO, AS AND WHEN YOU PLEASE. IT IS PRIMARILY A LUNCH-TIME MEET, FROM 11.00am TO 2.30pm BUT MANY PEOPLE ARRIVE MUCH EARLIER AND SOME STAY LATER. FURTHER DETAILS IF REQUIRED FROM GARY OR STEVE, BY TELEPHONE: 01823 444500 OR E-MAIL: info@thornfalconclassics.com. Visitors arrive from all over the south of England – many even further. The average number of exhibits often reaches the one thousand mark! It is a meeting, not a show, so your vehicle does not necessarily have to be in pristine condition. Most makes are represented, from the mainstream to the obscure, including commercial vehicles and motor bikes, as well as cars. ""
Ihink that just about sums it up we will probaby leave barnstaple about 8.30 ish if anyone wants to go |

although I didn't make last years show, all of the previous one's I've been to have been excellent, my dad loved this event because of the variety of vehicles that attend. I don't know if we will be there, but those of you who do go will enjoy it I'm sure.. |

If Bertie's anything like Krakatoa there is still a third of a tank left when the gauge is on the red. It does make you nervous though when it gets that low. We have been told though not to run it so low on Barney (our Clubman Estate) as apparently when they say empty they do mean empty. |

Same with mine. Takes 20 litres to fill it full from the red line. It's supposed to be a 35 litre tank. Though when I had my mini van, that will only take 20 litres to fill up, and when it said empty on the gauge, it was a full tank! Bit confusing so I carried a big jerry can of petrol in the back just in case it ran out, which happened often. |

Morky's the same as is Mumbo. We look to fill up at around 150 miles ish becuse you never know. They used to call Ford fuel guages 'guestimators' Still, we love the little foibles don't we ? don't we ?.................... |

30 litre tank on Spi/Mpi due to the pump in the tank, so it's not quite as bad as it seems |

Had a great day. Our first time at this show. Free to enter and well worth a look. About 1000 cars on display from Rolls to Minis. There were vintage cars through to modern classics and motorbikes. Cheap food too put on by the local scouts. You can park in the main car park, or display your car in the main area. There were about 30 minis on show including Penny's and the blue moke minus its dinosaur. |
