Like Richard has said though you would be driving along quite happily and they suddenly became a typical narrow, potholed Irish road with no warning.

Round these parts you would be driving along quite happily and they suddenly became a typical narrow, smooth  tarmaced road with no warning.
Doesn't happen often though

'Life's Journey is not to arrive at the grave safely in a

well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways,

totally worn out, shouting,  ' Holy s*!t... What a Ride!! '

so Ireland....... a 1st class country with 3rd world roads! i absolutely loved the place, but if you're thinking of taking your Mini there, DONT!!!!! just dont even entertain the idea.

I really enjoyed our week there, but spent alot of time being worried about the car. and my exhaust seemed to spend more time hitting the road/speed bumps/ferry ramps than flying along above it. the motorways are good, and some of the N national routes are, but the majority of R and L (lanes) are atrocious.

We had a great tour going along the south coast to Cork, then a morning at Blarney castle (not kissing the stone, a) im scared of heights, and b) it looked like it had been kissed by a million american tourists over the years) before heading northwards to Kilkenny and Dublin. then back to the ferry yesterday via the gorgeous Wiklow mountains.

the Mini didnt let me down at all, so really proud of it! and people are right about the guinness, it is alot nicer over there, we went to the brewery too!

back to work tomorrow
