Well whether I liked it or not I have already started work on my nightmare you lot call The Legendary Grand Tour and the papers might be finished by the end of the month.  All those nutcases that did it last year will have a place reserved for them until 1st May, then it is first come first served like last year.
The event will cost the same as last year but we have to do some work on the cost of the camping. If anyone has anything to say about the camping and campsite please feel free to add a comment.
We have been promised the bigger shower block this year.

If anyone would like to comment on last years LGT then please feel free.

Good to have you here. I'm no camper but I am aware that when you made a few random checks last year, many had dodged paying. I saw the reams of paperwork produced by you as to who was due to pay what. I hope their conscience bothered them. Is it any benefit to get them to pay in advance or go round on a daily basis collecting subs.

Rita is right of course but I think no further comment re dodging payment should be posted here. Measures to ensure it does not happen again should and will be dealt with by PM. I am the Campsite Manager for my sins so please respect my comment re PM

It was Paul and I who walked the site and collected the arrears. We're aware which club was mainly to blame last year. It will not happen this year.

We will be openning a special thread to help us organise this years LGT including camping. PMs are OK but they do stop people being involved, this thread is not going to be open to everyone only core members. There are a few things that need sorting before I send out the booking forms, which I hope will be by the end of the month

Speaking personally, I am already looking forward to the GT yet again, sadly for me, I may well be without a travelling companion. But on the other hand.........I can darn well please myself and only have to make one fancy dress costume!!

Really looking forward to it too. Just starting the brainstorming for fancy dress ideas

Terry can we have an extra application form as we've got to bring two cars this year some some reason

For those nutcases who camped last year, are camping places already reserved or is it just places on the event itself? ie if we camped last year, do we still need to send an email for a booking form?

I send out the camping forms with the LGT booking form. This year you will have to book your camping places but we can not reserve camping places.

We are looking forward to this years LGT, but haven't got a clue about fancy dress?

Terry, the only negative thing I heard about the nutters campsite was the availability of showers and I see you've already mentioned that more will be on site this year.

they are miles better than the showers (if you can call them that) that were at braddicks

Absolutely correct Charlie. Braddicks showers were basic to say the least, only a couple of them in the Gents and you had to put a token in and didn't really know how long it would last. With the big shower block we had in 2010, there was also a vanity unit in the middle with a hair dryer and sink. I remember last year letting a lady dry her hair daily in the booking in tent / hospitality area via an extension lead.

I think the facilities on offer are second to none if you just take into account that we're in a field in the middle of nowhere.

There's an awful lot that goes on behind the scenes to make the Campsite work but the atmosphere on-site is superb. As you know, most folk are onsite for a short weekend but for some of us are there for 8 nights doing the best we can.

It's true that the bigger shower block is coming this year

Have to say the generator wasn't a problem for me after the first night I got used to it.  And without it there would have been no kareoke

Hopefully you mean the genny we had for 2011 Ian. That was superb. The one we had for 2010 had to be topped up every 3 or 4 hours so I'm led to believe. Now who was the idiot who did that I wonder. Like the shower thing last year, we got over it and it didn't spoil what was on offer. Roll on 2012.

We could even have potted plants outside the tents. Some of us are there long enough for them to take root !!!!

Camping/showers: Happy to pay more to ensure reliability/security. Happy to take turns down at the gate to ensure no-one gets in without paying. Actually, happy to do whatever, just to be part of "The Thing"!

Planning to be there Thursday to Tuesday, but if I'm needed for longer, just say the word.

Ah, what you need is another genny running, to power a strong electric starting motor to swing the starting handle.

Problem is, you then need another genny to start the starter genny.

May I suggest Charlie with an HGV complete with Hi-ab. Now that would do the trick

Ah, what you need is another genny running, to power a strong electric starting motor to swing the starting handle.

Problem is, you then need another genny to start the starter genny.

Isn't this similar to the Oozlum bird ? Legend has it that it disappears somewhere. Looking at the number of genny's required, when would I get any sleep..........zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

If you get it fixed Kevin plaese leave it running as I couldn't swing the starting handle quick enough to make it fire up last year

someone needs a few more wheatabix in the morning   might have a cunning plan with the starter on the genny

Didn't really have time for breakfast in the mornings Kevin unlike some. It was more like ....up and at it....  onsite every day. I would look forward to having an electric start on any genny we have in the future

Yes, it's a

"Caution: Wet Floor"

sign. Healthy and safety and all that. Can't be too careful.

Though to make sure no-one falls over the "Caution: Wet Floor" sign, we've produced a slightly larger and more prominent

"Caution: Caution: Wet Floor sign"

sign.

And to make sure no-one falls over that, we've produced a slightly larger and more prominent

sign.

There was a suggestion that this sign be indicated by a slightly larger and more prominent

"Caution: Caution: Caution: Caution: Wet Floor sign sign sign"

sign but it was so large that it wouldn't have fitted in the field.
