NDMR Soapbox/Forum / Soapbox Destructions & Updates / Photo Album

I have added a Photo Album facility to the forum.
Feel free to make use of it ... or not! Hopefully it will work problem free, but i'm sure this is highly unlikely!!
You may have problems logging in to the Album. This is a cookie problem.
Go to Tools > Internet options...
In the box that pops up In the Temporary Internet files section Click Delete Files...
You each have your own personal folder, so whatever you upload will be added to your own folder. You can set it to be viewable by everyone or yourself only.
In order to not gobble up the server space your images should not be larger than 150 kb.
As a quick guide - size your images to a maximum of about 1000px (pixels) wide, and save as a jpeg of about 70%, 7 whatever your scale might be in your image editing program. Websites can only handle images of 72 dpi, so there is absolutley no point having a high resolution photo.
Good luck and enjoy!!
(Now maybe we can see some of Terry's pictures of all the work he has beendoing, AND his new car!!)

The album opens in a new browser window, so the forum is still kept open in a separate window.
To logout, close the album browser window and then logout of the forum as usual. It doesn't have its own logout facility, it uses that of the forum.

Michelle
Thanks for you PM
The photo album icon doesn't stay on the menu bar -mine disappears all the time. Is that right?
Posted by: party-ring, February 1, 2006, 3:15pm; Reply: 7
No!! It is linked the same way as all the other menu bar images. The last 2 buttons are Site and Photo Album. Does it put a text link in instead?
I did used to have problems with my firewall software blocking images on websites. I use Zone Alarm - and i had to tell it to allow certain websites, or lower the restrictions.
Is it IE?
I've tested in IE, Firefox, Opera and Mozilla on the PC and Camino on the Mac, and it was OK on all of them..... trying to think what might be causing it. Could be anything with the web :( or maybe your computer just doesn't like you ;D

Thanks for being so patient with me............
Right, when I first come onto the forum the last two buttons on the menu bar are 'Site' and 'photo album' :)
As soon as I log in the 'photo album' button disappears. :'(
I am on IE. 8)
My pooter likes me most of the time. ;)

well....i have to say... at this point... i'm stumped. It doesn't make any sense to me at all.
It's not logical for it to be there, and then disappear, which is quite frankly just rude.
The fact that it is there at all means that the code is correct - so what is scaring it away? (hmm)
If you go directly to:
http://www.smallcarsbighearts.co.uk/photoalbum/code/album.plwhat happens?

can everyone else see the photo album button in the menu bar?

Posted by: Dizzy, February 1, 2006, 10:29pm; Reply: 11
When I clicked on the link - I got into the 'photo album'
Posted by: GraciesMum, February 1, 2006, 10:38pm; Reply: 12
Yes and it doesn't play hide and seek like Dizzy's.

:'( :'( :'(
Perhaps I'm not special enough to have a photo album! (cryei)
Posted by: party-ring, February 2, 2006, 10:57am; Reply: 14
you can have an album, you just can't get to it using the button!!! (rofl)
When you're in the album, just upload a picture and your own personal album will be created for you - special.
You could use the link to get to the album, and then bookmark it!! (i'm so helpful you know).

unique i'd say!! Have you got any kind of image editing program, so you can resize it and optimise it?
If not you can try Serif PhotoPlus. You can download a free copy from here:

I sure am - so special and unique that I have given up trying now.
My daughter and I both tried Saturday afternoon for over an hour to get some photos in my photo album.
all I keep getting is that the username and password are incorrect and when I finally get past the red tape it just disappears.................

sounds like you've got a problem with your cookies. when it pops up with an error message saying you can't be authenticated (something like that anyway) it is to do with the cookies.
If you clear all your cookies for the smallcarsbighearts domain, and log back into the forum - you should be ok.
To delete just your smallcars.. cookies - go to Tools > Internet options.
on the popup box, in the section that says Temporary Internet files on the first tab, click on the settings button. On that panel click the view files button. This will open an explorer window with all the files and cookies of all the websites you visit.
look for a file called something like Cookie:dizzy@smallcarsbighearts.co.uk and delete it. (make sure you can remember your username and password first - open the file first if you can't to remind yourself)
Refresh the browser window, and login to the forum again.
Hopefully it should work then! I'm sorry it's giving you such grief!!

I'll give it another go..........
Do I need to log in on the forum first - before I delete the cookies?
and Yes i do get the message saying I not authenticated ...... (don't answer that!) :D
Posted by: party-ring, February 6, 2006, 11:08am; Reply: 23
well when you delete the cookies you show up on the forum as a guest - as it effectively logs you out anyway. I would log out first, then delete the cookies.
