NDMR Soapbox/Forum / Mini Know how? / Mabel has spots!! ?
Posted by: burmesejack, March 25, 2008, 7:50pm
Since Silly Mini Sunday Mabel has got a collection of spots on her bonnet.
There are a group of about 7 or so spots- raindrop shaped and size towards the edge of the bonnet. Think there were one or two before but no more than that.
They look like paler paint. I have tried T-Cut as I thought it might be salt, but no joy.
Any ideas? Could it be caused by heat from the engine? ( They are above the radiator).
Thanks.

i see it. it looks like the lacquer is going milky, sometimes if petrol or brake fluid is spilt on paint it goes milky. would need rubbing down and repainting ideally.

redhotmini- sorry can't do quote thing!!-
Oh dear just bpaid to have boot sprayed, won't be allowed to get bonnet done too- plus the paint doesn't quite match, which would look bad at the front.
Don't think anything's spilt on there, mystery.
So it wouldn't be caused from anything under the bonnet then?

ladybugs have black spots, i think ??)
only thing it may be is antifreeze, sometimes they spit a little bit out of the radiator (talking from lots of experience here, shut up kev :P) but that would have washed off with all the snow and rain.

Not having much luck recently, first my son reverses her into the garage door ( hence the new boot), now she's growing spots.
Plus the passenger window won't open, well don't think so- I daren't force it in case it sticks open!!
Just bought mechanism for a fiver on Ebay, just in case. They're a sod to fit though I imagine.
