South East North Devon Mini Register Sunday Run
30th November
in aid of the Cry Wolf Campaign for Breast Cancer Awareness
We will be meeting in Planet Thanet at 10 o'clock for a little breakfast snack and then taking a leisurely drive around the South East Coast. Leaving about 11ish, we'll mooch around letting our presence be known and then wander up to Whitstable. We'll have some time to look round the shops and then off to the fish and chip restaurant.
All we ask is a £2 donation for the Cry Wolf Campaign

Rita (Bumble) and Andrew (Lazybones) and Domino the dog will be going on the SE run in Lazybones. Our real mini has gone into hibernation. We will be happy with just a willie warmer OOPS sorry a tail. Domino will no doubt try to eat it.

We will have some tails (as seen on the CRY WOLF thread) unfortunately we won't be having bras - my sewing machine has had a shock to it's system - it hasn't seen the light of day for a while and I just don't think it's up to the bras (I'm not as clever as Penny I'm afraid) ;D

I've put the route in the google maps - and hopefully it has worked so other people can see it. It's not too bad - follow the coast as much as possible! :D Let's hope it's better weather than today though. Not very picturesque at all!

I stopped worrying about how many people will turn up for runs along time ago. I enjoy myself if I go out with 3 or 300 minis, it's the company that matters. The 30th is just the start and at the moment only a few people know what we are doing and why. The letters are going out today and mainly sent to mini owners in the S East like L&S, SMOC and a few others.
When we started the Grand Tour it was a silly idea, who in their right mind would want to take out 300 minis in a convoy and them take them through Little Bridge House. How many other nutcases would ever think they could get away taking 300 minis through a housing estate and so many built up areas.
The 30th may not make a big splash but it may start a little ripple and that might turn into a wave. Once we have sorted the petition out we might get a lot more interest.

Can anyone who has a Mini or mini come along or do they have to have been on NDGT or LEJOG?
Posted by: O-B, November 24, 2008, 8:51pm; Reply: 22
A mini or MINI and support for the Cry Wolf Campaign ;D

The invite clearly meant to be those who understood what it is all about but SMOC have advertised it as a run..Margaret has communicated to me today and I will reply to her. The run was designed for the south east region of the NDMR and NOT a run for clubs to tag on to. However we also want support for a worthy cause.
Posted by: Frank Spencer, November 29, 2008, 4:27pm; Reply: 24
I had no idea the run was just for NDMR members only, it does not mention it on the mailing or on the forum. If non-members are not welcome, then I'll contact those from SMOC who wanted to attend to support this cause and explain why they can't attend.
Why was it decided to exclude non-members?
Posted by: Bumble, November 29, 2008, 5:24pm; Reply: 25
Magraret and I have spoken and the few cars that want to come from SMOC are welcome. The run began as an idea from North Devon and the south east region decided to do their own. Originally on your SMOC board you did say it was for Grand Tour and Lejog cars as it is only a little lowkey run aimed at Terry's crywolf campaign and we were concerned it would be swallowed up by an over zealous group. That has not happened.
O-B did say on the board that all are welcome.

I think Andrea is going straight to Ramsgate they will probably be early...they usually are :) I'm being dropped at Garys at 9.30 so should be there approx 10.30. Think the other 2 are meeting at 10ish on route :) Will ring if we cannot find you :) but we have the map so should be ok :)

I have just printed out some petitions to take with us tomorrow (ever hopeful) and ron my cat objected quite strongly and started beating up the printer. I think he is now going to have a scrap with reg (my other cat)... what can you do with them?
Posted by: Bumble, November 29, 2008, 10:01pm; Reply: 31
In our local pets at home there was a doggy tee shirt(might just have fitted Fats Domino) and it had on it a note to Santa....Leave the treats take the cat!

Bumble Lazybones And Domino are home. We had a good day -special thanks to party-ring and O-B. I don't think we all ate as much as our friends did in Devon and Cornwall. Perhaps they're starting a sponsored slim tomorrow.
Domino ate too much of the wrong thing (cooked ham) and got caught short on the M25. We managed to pull into Clacket Lane services JUST in time.
The only thing wrong about today.........we don't do it often enough (I heard Andrew say something similar the other day)

I wish I knew what he was talking about. Just want to make a point we did not have chips with our breakfast but we did get a 10% discount at the sunshine cafe.

We had a good time - enjoyed the drive round the Planet. Not something we actually do that often. Maybe we'll have another go next year with some sun and picturesque scenery... as opposed to the type of sun we had today....
Anyway, here are our pics:

We had 9 cars in the end, and I believe we got about £40. OB took the money (who else really?) and our 'willy warmers' adorned the cars beautifully. Some were more floppy than others though....

Will have to wait for our pictures but our big warmers where hang on the back of the minis for a warning, not sure what about.

well most went for the aerials, but some seemed to be trying to keep their aerials warm.....

I'm back ;D it appears the credit had been wrongly applied ::) but been into the 3 shop and it is all sorted now. It was a great (if soggy) day and I thoroughly enjoyed myself. Will be posting a cheque later today Terry and yes it is £40 ;D
