I know it's a bummer but as long as your other halfs ok that the main thing.
A car is a lot easier to repair/replace than a person

Brian posted this on another Forum:

"The other half's ok just a bit of brusing and whiplash, I was thinking of trading her in for a newer model anyway  ;)

The mini held up very well as the subframe is still ok and attached, the torsion bars are hanging as the front panel took a lot of impact, distributor is distroyed (only fitted electronic the day before) no other damage to the engine that I can see. I towed the son in it once we bent the wings clear to the repairs shop so keeping my fingers crossed, the piller in front of the door has moved though as the door touches at the rear top corner."

Obviously "Mrs. XL426" doesn't go on Mini Forums!!

Spoke to the insurance today and they've already hinted - "write off", but got to wait for the guy to give it the once over.  :-/

Managed to get the mini on a ramp today and it's not good... the engine and sub have shoved back and the bulk head has gone so possitive write off, just got to wait for the insurance guy to look then it's sort out how much. The only good part is I retain the car so I can strip it for spares or rebuld with another body shell.

Oh Dude, that sucks, make me feel quite sick. Know how you feel, got punted into car in front some years back and ins wrote my cooper baby off. It sucks, cant stress how important it is to get agreed valuation on your babies, I got full agreed value back on mine so that I could build the madam that is now missy.

What a nightmare this is:   Everyone checked out by paramedics and other woman had no injuries but now she has slapped in a claim????

My insurance is with Lancaster who have been great in the past but now pass you to a claims company (A1) who were good at getting a hire car but then nothing as still waiting for the car to be looked at, also the policy company have now put another claims company on the case and if you want to listen to music on a 087 number for up to 50 mins before someone answers this is the company for you.

Where did these claim companies come from as it was easy and quick before and Lancaster are loosing all the cars insured by me because of this  :(

I hope you get this sorted. How long has it taken for her to realise she was hurt. When Bumble was hit 2 years ago I was bounced up and down and after 48 hours I realised my back was hurting.. I visited the doctor and was signed off for 2 weeks. Not easy when you're self employed. I had paid an extra £30 on my car insurance and was given all costs back including £1200 loss of earnings for the 2 weeks.

Andrew is chasing car insurance for his MINI. He has been with MINI insurance (same company as Direct Line ) for 7 years but his renewal invite has gone up 25 %. As it was modified to a works conversion by BMW after it was built, a lot of companies will not touch it. Bumble is £150 less than Andrew for all the classes of people I have driving him.

Looking around, Andrew found a story where a woman was hit and when she made her claim to her insurance company they told her the other person was not insured and she would have to foot the bill herself. She was a policewoman and ran a check on the other car and found it was insured BUT with the same company as herself. Reluctant to name them but she said it was a well known supermarket and "every little helps". How naughty is that. They have since agreed they were wrong.

Totally bad what you say and tried that supermarket insurance once and when I saw the small print I cancelled as it more or less said they wouldnt pay on lots of things......
Going to a specialist insurer for classic's like Lancaster you expect them to deal with a claim quickly as your car is normally a show car of some kind but not pass you on to another claim's company then wash thier hands of it,  What also annoyed me with the injury claim is that it's over a month before she claimed, it was her fault the accident happened so why's she trying to claim off my insurance???? she had just got her car back 2 weeks before this from the repairers from the last accident she had. >:(

As said Im going to change all my classics to an insurer who does not use claim companies if I can find one but it's the first question I will be asking.

Insurance is the biggest legal con going, you can see why more & more people (unfortunately) don't bother with it  >:(
