When we get our invite to attend Grand Tour I try each year to beat my own record of opening, reading the rules signing it, writing cheque and envelope and for a change getting up to the corner of the road where the pillar box is, quicker than Domino. My best is 11 minutes.

Shock , horror last night. There was a notice on the pillar box saying they are moving it along the road. Another 3 minute walk. What can I do? Do you think they might have a re-think if I tell them why I need it close.

I was saddened to read that Kristian had been found dead in his flat. His death is unexplained. I used to enjoy To buy or not to buy when he was on it and found him funny, likeable and a bit zany. Aged only 32, what a shame. He comes from Torquay and would always talk warmly of Devon.

Make the most of every day and spend your money and enjoy life whilst you've got it!

What is it with us mini drivers and the RAIN?

Some members of Yeovil mini mania took their cars to the local wetherspoons today, we were invited to celebrate their 10th birthday and were permitted to raise money for charity. We dressed up as pirates, ' arrhhh' helped to entertain the patrons and the kids amused throughout the wet weather. It was decided that the collected money would be donated to my first LEJOG. The total will be split 50/50 Childrens Hospice South West and Help for Heroes.

P.S. The LEJOG door plaques look really 'groovy' even when wet.

I had a strange one today, eventually got round to washing the car after Bingley Hall, but my Optima battery was flat, struggling to turn the engine over, very unusual for a spiral cell technology battery with 1000 amp hour cranking capacity but what happened next was bizarre. Turned the ignition off, all of the warning lights went out as you would expect BUT the engine kept turning over slowly. I had to run around and dis-connect the battery

IS MY IGNITION SWITCH AT FAULT?

For a year I have been teaching a young lad with Aspergers syndrome. I had no idea what it was until the parents explained it to me and I googled it. Lack of prediction and needs routine. Everything is black or white and no grey. Takes things literally so if you say it's cool, he thinks it's cold. Looks blank at times and cannot comprehend humour or sarcasm. This made teaching him to drive an enjoyable challenge.

Today he took his test but sadly he failed. He just did one thing wrong. In a one way street he was asked to turn right but he was positioned on the left side of the road. He was very gentlemanly to the examiner and thanked him and although disappointed at failing was deservedly pleased at his result. He got a few minors so there is a bit of work to do. I just wish he had seen the one way sign.
